Anyone have a 1265 or 66x replacement battery cover plunger button ?

Needs some assistance please....

The button on the back of the 1265x I have has lost some 'teeth' and I need to replace it. Having trouble locating one, anyone have an extra or know where I can get one?

Also the compression nut which secures the lower rod needs to have the inner washer replaced I think it was made of some white plastic fiber.

Thanks in advance

Tony

Fisher had the complete back side to battery cover last time I needed one (was about 3 years ago) but SURE they would still have one. Same with the fiber washer you mention. But you might as well order a couple extra battery "holders" or a rechargeable with charger....as FISHER has a $25 minimum order last I heard :(

WOW! Thanks for the heads up on the minimum order of 25$. For that price, I can leave my rubber band on the battery case and also tolerate a lil wobble in the lower rod too.

Hoping I can find someone other than Fisher with the parts.

Yea, I wonder how much money Fisher has lost with that $25 minimum order crap :) I use a 1285-X myself (one of my favorites) I use the most. I got my son one last year too. He's 29 and lives in Oklahoma. I shipped it to him WITH rubber bands criss-crossed around the battery case just INCASE that darn battery door wanted to go for a walk. His cover fits fine.....but why chance it for these prices :) I got one awhile back for a friend (while I was having my CZ20 repaired) and sent it to him in New Jersey, cant remember the price....but very reasonable (less then $15 or I would have remembered). My buddy LOST is real quick (told him to add rubberbands too :) Maybe some thin wire otherwise. I would put up a post in the MODS section and the For Sale areas every now and then....And maybe someone will get one with there order or repair order and mail it to you in a bubble mailer for cheap.

I may have one on its way, its from another company, yet should fit.

Thanks for the ideas, i will surely tuck them away and use them if this doesnt work out.

The unit you use is a 1285x ? Is his perhaps a typo? I cant say i have heard of an 85x,.

Have a good weekend

Yea, I "phat" fingered the keyboard. I ment to say 1265-X (my favorite). I've had it now for about 3 years. Until that time I would hip mount a CZ20 or swing an elephant Spectrum Eagle.....or tear my head off trying to listen to an XS 2a Pro. I've run a Compass Coin Scanner Pro when I go to old places out in the woods...but the meter got off calibration somehow after swinging the coil over a ceramic magnet (not a rare earth) last year. I've used another coil so it's not something that way. Keith Wills got another one coming someday :)

Weird on your compass meter.

This is a long shot BUT you can try using some sort of anti static rag or spray on a rag and then wipe the meter face and back etc etc.

I have seen static cause all sorts of weird readings on a meter.

Yup, I like my 1265x alot too.

Good luck with the compass.

Okay, that sounds good. I forgot about the "static" issues with these plastic faced meters. I will give that a try. Very Good. Thanks :)

Thank for the Recomindation FOWLERCHARLES. Ok Tony "ORLANDO" found the parts, if you still need them e-mail me and I'll give the info data. Had the same problem about 5 years ago with my 1265x but i made a strap holder with Velcro also made one for the 1270 here's the pics, simple the make you don, need a canvas sewing machine, a home sewing machine with some old jeans material and Velcro and thats it.

2096 Battery door for Fisher 1260/65 3.00
Shaft lock washer, nylon 1.00

Hey Shooter! thanks for the pic post of your heavy duty velcro system ! I am very glad you do NOT work for Victoria's Secrets! Your design would have wayyyyyy too much support to do their catalog any good:bouncy::bouncy:

I had been using a couple of wide rubber bands around the battery cover to make sure it wont spring off when I wasnt lookin. I was also thinking of gluing a coin on the inside of the cover so I could more easily find the cover should it in fact have come off before I had placed the bands.

You mentioned you found the parts, GR8 ! Can you PM me the details to get payment to you on the items?

I will reply to it later as I am getting ready to get out and do some diggin now.

I appreciate the reply

Tony

I removed all traces of the plunger from my 1266-X battery door and got a long studded 1/4 X 20 wing nut and a 1/4 inch washer and just screw the door down, have been using this set-up for over 20 years. Stud must come attached to the wing nut........NGE
