Anyone gone from a DFX to MXT?

kickback

New member
I have a DFX,just sent it back in to Whites to get it repaired.I've been thinking real seriously about getting a MXT Pro.Has anyone gone from the DFX to the MXT?What was your experience?Liked the MXT better? There seems to be a "cult" of MXT users who swear by the MXT for coins and jewelry.I'm mainly a coin hunter. Thanks Bill

We're not a cult...we just do as we're told by the wise one.

If you have the DFX set up properly, you will notice little depth change, but the MXT is sure a lot easier to use. You will also lose the adjust-ability to ground conditions and the dual frequency capabilities, especially if you are a beach hunter.

exactly... :please::please::please:

Never used the DFX but as larry said, it most be better for beaches due to the dual frequency. All I can say is that I love my MXT

Yes, I have. Never regreted the switch. Got a Mindlab Soverign xs and sleep good now. That combo will get the good stuff if you place the coil over it!

I now have the MXT and like the simplicity, but yet plenty of ability. The only thing I am not sure of is picking up silver. The DFX has 2 frequencies, one being low which is better for silver. Have I missed some with the MXT? I don't know for sure, but I find more enjoyment with the MXT personally and that is what it is all about. So it's a personal choice. As far as coin shooting a park, I have had no problem with the MXT. I am thinking on getting the MXT pro myself. Good luck!

John the mxt is very good on silver coins. I've found a few mercs and a standing liberty. The mxt is a good all around detector.

Just sold my DFX 300 as I felt I was spending more time messing with settings and wondering if they were correct? Don't get me wrong, I think the DFX is a great machine but I can't find words to express how much I love! love! love! my MXT Pro...

On my first time out with the PRO I went over an area that I had previously hunted with my DFX. After a short while I decided to crank the MXT Pros gain to +1 and not 2 minutes later I got a good solid +80-81 signal that pinpointed at 7" and dug a nice 1945 Merc which made me ecstatic that I could get that kind of depth in Colorado soil. "Silver" is no problem with the MXT and "Gold" is even better.......

Happy Hunting,
Scooter

Oh Yes!!!! My DFX lied to me a lot and hard to pinpoint with . I sold it less than a year later.:surrender:

I have been at this for over 55 years and I bought a MXT, Let me tell you the relic mode is a killer on the beach WOW!

I am so happy with my MXT I could just Dance.Like Larry said. different abilitys between machines. But Relic mode is tops
in my book....John.......:clapping:

I've been using an MXT but I just picked up a DFX mainly for a good dry sand beach machine and just to see what I can do with it (still waiting on it's arrival). Am I going the wrong way ? I am a little concerned about the learning curve but if it proves too difficult or frustrating, I may move (sideways ?) to an MXT pro. The original MXT is staying with me...no matter what.
