Anyone getting good depth with the DeLeon?

The DeLeon is capable of very good depth but it can not keep up with the Tejon..Vaquero..or Cibola. As long as your soil is not highly mineralized the DeLeon will give you in general 6 to 8 inches of depth. I like to run it in the All Metal Mode and listen for those soft whispers. Larger targets will of course allow you greater depths as will ideal conditions. You will loose your ID long before you reach max depth. Usually, depending on your target, the ID is reliable to around 6 to 7 inches. Hope this helps.

It's kind of hard to describe the DeLeon or any model of Tesoro for that matter. I've logged about 50 hours on my DeLeon so far and it continues to surprise me.

Almost every time I go hunting I find something good now. Already this year I've found far more than I did all last year using a $1200 machine that got far more depth.

The strong point of the DeLeon and Cortes is in the area of target separation--not depth. While depth is good, it's not supreme like the Tejon, Explorer II, or Nautilus DMC IIB.

But if one will take the time to learn it one will do very well indeed. The machine is like a coin vacuum down to about 7 or 8 inches. I've dug old silver coins and in the dirt with them were square nails.

So far this year my deepest find was a kid's silver skull ring at 9 inches.

But hey, no matter what machine one discusses on this or any other forum for that matter--there are those who love it and those who hate it. Is this not the truth?
