Anyone found a Gold Eagle American coin dated 1933?

Was reading a magazine the other day and read about these coins dated from 1907-1933. Does anyone know why those particular coins are worth so much?
Cheers!

The Secret Service found one (a 1933 St. Gaudens $20) at the Waldorf in NYC in 1996. Agents posing as coin dealers seized the only one known to be outstanding out of ten not destroyed. When gold was called in during 1933 by President Roosevelt, these coins were recalled and never issued. Ten stolen ones got out, nine were recovered and one stayed missing. It was believed that Egypt's King Barouk had it in his private collection. After years of court battle, the coin was put up for auction in 2002.

Yea but for how much?

7.6 million dollars! Interestingly, the coin narrowly escaped destruction again. It was move from the twin towers just before 9/11 as the case was settled in court. Great article can be viewed by clicking link below.

Ibelieve this was in the 40's, no one knows how he recived them. I don't remember how many they had. thinking 8, how can the government take these when they left 2 out there legally ?
