Anyone familiar with Vibra Probe 570?

Stanl

I recently purchased a used Vibra Probe 570, that I thought would be a compliment to my shallow water detector.
I was wondering what distance from a target can be expected for the Vibra Probe to start vibrating.
The one I bought (new alkaline battery installed) has to be within an inch (air test 14k gold ring, narrow & wide sides) to vibrate.
I also have a Garrett PP and two Sunrays (DX-1 & XL-1), so I'm somewhat familiar with pin-pointers.
My main question is: Is that short detecting distance normal for a Vibra Probe or do you think that there is something wrong with this unit?

Thanks in advance for a response.

I got an answer: Pulse Induction probe must be moving to get a good response.........duh.

Tough to do after digging down 6 inches for a coin, gotta practice I guess.

another update to the Vibra Probe question:

my concern was real, the probe died after several minutes use and will not restart even with new battery.
BTW: purchase was not from this forum. This is just FYI.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I've got that same Vibraprobe. I've never had any problems with mine. Don't even have to have it in motion in order to detect.
HOWEVER, lately I've just been using my Propointer. I place it within a waterproof bag that's made for using a camera underwater. Works great and has never leaked.
Vibraprobe is still a fine unit. I don't know why yours is not working. Are you sure that you had the battery compartment screwed in tight? Maybe you just got a bum unit?
Anyways, good luck with that.
Happy Hunting!:)

metalhead: thanks for the tip on the underwater camera bag. I'll try that next time I get to go MD'ing in the water.

Make sure the battery wires are not broken.

mine doesn't go deep maybe a 1"
