I have the ads7, i love the way it hunts. It,s not the deepest detector out there but when you hear that bong, bong, get out your digger for there is a coin there.I have never used the other ads, but i like the ads7 so much that i sent it to Garrett's and had it gone over and put it in it,s case and keeping it. I take it out every now and then and use it. Just it is heavy. If you get one you will have a coin getter. Good luck Flintstone

Garretts will check them out for you, and if they have a part that it needs they will fix it. But if it needs something that they don,t have they can,t get it anymore. I have dug coins at 7" to 8" deep with mine.I don,t use it much as it is heavy, but still a good old detector. I think mine uses 6 or 7 9v battery's which is a pain, i just use rechargeable for i have 3 other that use 9v also. The 6or 7 battery's will last about 60 hr. so not like they eat them. Good Luck Flintstone

My buddy had one of the ADS 7 models, and it was real hot on silver coins. The depth was very good also. He ran circles around me at the time with me using the GTA 500.

I bought the ADS III back in 1983 and over the years it's taken some serious abuse and have used it for all types of hunting. I love it's depth ability, great ground tuning capability, no problems with fresh or salt water beaches. Yes it takes 6- 9 volt batteries and is a bit heavy, but getting deep signals is why I will never retire mine. Two years ago while hunting down Virginia beach I dug a coin that was a bit bigger then a quarter from around 16"deep,just a small flicker of a signal that got stronger as I went deeper,it was an old Hong Kong coin, such a treat. And I have to share a post I made today about Garrett customer service.

Now this is how CUSTOMER SERVICE should be; I hunt with a Garrett master hunter ADS III,bought it new in 1983 and it's been through a lot over the years. At some point the magnet part of the speaker broke off and came out,but since I always use headphones,no big deal. Recently my headphone jack stopped working, and I thought while I have the machine apart I would replace the speaker. So I called Garrett's customer service to see about a replacement or at least if they had the info on the speaker size/ohms and such. The phone rang 4 times before being answered by a REAL PERSON,very nice lady named Mary,I explained my problem and she put me on hold while she checked. No more then 2 minutes later she was back with not only the info about the speaker but she had found their supplier still carried that model and could have them send me one. Super,Great! And since it wasn't very expensive they would take care of the cost and just get it sent out to me FREE!!! I should have it in a week or so. NOW THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Back in the 1980's and 1990's I used the Garrett ADS, ADS 3, and ADS 7 models, exclusively. When our local lake was lowered in '70 and '80, I made a haul on class rings, wedding bands, and silver coins using my 10 1/2" and 12" coils. Others on the beach with Whites, etc. marveled at the depth I was getting on these items and they couldn't touch them with their detectors. I, still, have and ADS and ADS3 that I keep for backups. They were the work horses of detectors, then.
