Anyone ever use the Coiltek 8.5x11.5 Platypus coil???

Ron; I have one that I bought for nugget hunting, nothing with it to date. I think is a tad to heavy for all day work.

Ron; I have no doubt that it would find coins or rings but I think there are a lot of coils

that are more user friendly, as I said this coil is on the heavy side. Only good point it

has is that it is water proof.

There are two versions of this coil the orange one and the newer black one.I hope these coils aren't as heavy as the old 10 inch BBS coils.AT this point I have only the 800 and 1000 Tornado coils and find they work very well for my park and yard hunting. The SEF 10X12 coil I had was nice but decided to keep the Tornado 10 inch and sell the SEF coil.(Needed funds for building a Yamaha TT 500 engine from scratch,Ebay assorted parts) I'll probably give one of these Coiltek coils a try next spring. The weather is very cold here and will be lucky to get out for for a couple of searches until the end of March. Thanks Ron

I was thinking about getting the new black one, but I decided to stay with a known winner and picked up the 8" Tornado. These coils are getting harder to find and very rarely does one come up used. I love the 12 x 10 SEF in the wet sand by the way. But I would feel very confident in hunting with the stock 10 inch coil as well.

The 8 inch Tornado coil is one of my favorite coils, excellent separation and depth.Another pleasant result when using this coil its quite & stable, the sensitivity can be maxed in my ground and the coil sweep speed can be quicker.

I bring back to life this topic, and ask again.

Anyone ever use the Coiltek 8.5x11.5 Platypus coil on Excalibur?
I wanna use in freshwater wading and saltwater rocky beaches. I don't know it's worth? I see used coils for sale rarely.
Any experience welcome.
