Anyone ever try an International (American) S-4 Groundhog?

Just picked up one that works. Pretty sensitive detector.....It's now a mate to my 1986 Gold Hunter Groundhog.

Wondering if it's possible (anyone do a mod) to change out the fixed two position disc toggle switch with a rotary control pot,
as well as dropping the disc range down to pick up iron? Probably a change out of several resistors. I already asked Garrett,
said it could not be done. But, maybe not at the factory.....a home brew mod.
Would like to change the two position sensitivity to a pot also. That won't be too hard to do.

Reconditioning my Gold Hunter as well with a new meter, just repaired the battery tray with new contacts.

Sven.....I really like those old Garret's that you are finding :clapping:.

Looks like I am going to leave the S4 as is even tho in bottle cap disc toggle setting it discriminates out modern Canadian clad coins but the 1 and 2 dollar coins.
Might be an asset if you want to cherry pick for them only.
Changing the disc toggle switch to rotary and changing out several resistors tied to it might not be as easy as it sounds. There may be more circuit changes that may have to be made to accomplish this mod. I need a schematic to verify or actually draw one out then take a good look. Not a biggie on the list of things to do........
