Anyone ever shortened a coil cable?

The 8" coil on an Advantage has the same longer cable as the other coils, that enables hipmounting the machine, but it seems that it would save a good amount of weight to only have what is necessary and then mount the box under the armrest for better balance. How hard would it be to shorten a coil cable and how would I go about it?
 
If you wanted to, you could send it to me, and I can do it for you. If you can take the plug apart the do it that way, just remember the wiring. if not then you will have to cut it in a location, strip the wire back, solder it, shrink tube each wire, then the whole thing and your done. PM me if you want me to do it. have a good one.
 
Yeah- i done sevral on advantages, just gotta be careful with the soldering, and draw a pic of the wires, or let some radio guy do it for you, mebbe the guy in the other post,= sounds like a good deal to me. good luck and HH.
