Anyone else find this to be true?

This is weird but over the years, almost every good find I have made has been during the first few swings of the coil. 1837 half dime found first sweep of the detector. Another day two 1853 dimes found within 6 inches of each other in the first few sweeps. Went to old fair ground to show my brother how detector worked and and found many good coins in the first 10 minutes, nothing after that.. Yesterday, went to an old park and knew there had to be silver. 1950 quarter a yard from where I started searching. Five hours later, no more silver.

Does anyone else recall this to be true for them?

Well I have had that happen a time or two and just found junk or newer coins the rest of the hunt funny how that works. Howard

My technique always gets worse the longer I go. I usually find the good stuff earl,y just like you, but sometimes I get lucky and find something great to end a hunt. If I'm really tired I take a good find like silver or gold to be my signal to wrap it up.

I find that if I've been detecting for a while, my ear can become tied of processing the audio information (particularly when I used the Ace) and my finds seem to drop off. Not always, but it does happen.

I find that my best finds come first thing or last thing. Almost never in the middle!! Guess everyone is different

No. For me it varies. It can happen any time. Just depends on where I go.
I finally found silver (1902 quarter, Merc 1941 dime, 1964 quarter ) at the end of the hunt and they were all within a couple feet
of each other.

Can happen but feel perhaps the first hour is most productive as the body tires so does the senses. Heck even after a while my plugs become a bit sloppy not like the perfect ones when I first started.Another factor to dial in as some people can just read a site and hit the good part first. All in all when I ponder the question indeed the majority of my good finds were made early in the hunt over the years of detecting...

I have noted it, yes. I've also noticed that the more I work to clear an area of targets, once I've found the first one, the more my good count climbs.
