Anyone do an air test on Gold with the Garrett Carrot?

I have and can only get about a half inch response. Anyone else tried this with similar results. It seems to function great on all other metals and usually gives me 4-5 inches.

Too much depth on an electronic pin-pointer prevents you from picking up targets close to a chain link fence, play equipment, trash and rebar. If you want 6' on a Pin pointer, you might as well just use your coil.

I appreciate the response John but my question is it normal for the Carrot to have such a limited response on Gold? Maybe its the frequency that is too high and a lower frequency would respond to Gold better. Or possibly my Carrot is defective. I honestly don't know. I'm very well pleased with the Carrot and Garrett.

Your question is hard to answer, as the distance of the gold to the pin-pointer will be affected by the size of the sample , it's shape and orientation to the tip of the pin-pointer.

The higher the frequency the better the response to fine gold----compared to silver, copper,or brass gold has a veeeeery low response. Your carrot is fine.
