Anyone diving with a shark shield?

I hunt in a river that is know to have Bull sharks in it. I have never seen one in hundreds of recreational dives but when using the detector on the bottom I feel a little vulnerable, so was thinking about getting a shark shield to wear while hunting. The only thing I was wondering was if the electrical pulse from the shield would interfere with my Excal.
Has anyone detected underwater while wearing a shark shield?

I got buddies that dive/spearfish the reefs...tank and free dive...some have a dish rag soaked in Dawn dish soap on them or small plastic bottle with a pin hole...shark repellent...they say!
