Just wondering if you have ever tried Coin shooting in 4/4h tones with 0 discrimination. I am heading out this evening to hit a Golf Course where I am finding Civil war and 1920-50 era coins. Gonna see if I can find some targets that I might have missed. Dankowski says that it acts much like the Cz-3d when detecting old coins in this mode. Never used one, but hear that they were killer on old coins. Anyone have some input? May have used the Cz-3d and found some old coins let me know I am interested. I just hope I don't encounter to much interference from power lines.

I had the cz3d before my F 75. I hunt one old fairgrounds, 114 year old, that I use that setup on and have dug several IH cents and 3 or 4 V nickels. I still think somewhere out on the old grounds are a couple of 2 and 3 cent pieces, but a 1883 IH is the oldest coin I've dug out of it. HH jim tn

I slmost always use 0 disc. As you go higher in disc. you lose depth. I[ve pretty much stuck with 3h tones. If it's got lots of iron, I'll use 6 disc. and one tone. NASA Tom has done a lot of research with the 6 disc. and one tone, and has found it will do the best job with unmasking good targets in iron infested areas. If not too trashy, the best depth is in All Metal. I found a half cent last Spring at a measured nine inches. It sounded "good" in all metal, but wouldn't give a VDI number. I've dug a lot of good civil war targets using that system. I love getting a mellow, deep, all metal signal that won't ID. It's almost always a deep bullet. Cant wait for cooler Fall weather when crops are out and the grass gets eaten down by cattle. Love the F 75.

Ok JimmyK when you say a good deep all metal signal that won't Id. I haven't gotten any of those I don't think. Maybe I should pay better attention. I am going out this evening Lets see how I do.

This is nly hunting civil war bullets in a camp that are very deep. I've dug over 8000 bulets in my time as a TH-ER and have gotten very adept at hearing what a bullets ounds like, deep in the ground. I've been getting those too deep for the discrimination mode to respond to, yet are reachable in all metal. It takes some practice, but pays off.

I mainly use a disc of 6 to knock out small iron, and run 3H tones, but the 4/4H tone option is great for old areas with older coins (similar to the CZ3D tone reprogramming).

Oddly this great tone option is missing on the Omega

Well I didn't get a chance to go out and try this out the other day. I am going out in the woods in the early morning and hunting about 4 or 5 1800's House foundations that are out in the middle of the woods in an old town. You guys can look the town up. Church Hill, Mississippi. My friend has a hunting camp there and knows where there are about 4-5 old house foundations. This will be his first Metal Detecting experience. I plan on hooking him, cause I need a partner that likes it as much as I do. He will be taking my Ace 250 and Vibra probe 570...I will be using my F75 and Garrett Propointer. Hopefully we will find some Civil war era coins, and maybe relics. Got my fingers crossed.

If your buddy finds an Injun, he'll be hooked. Heck, if he finds almost anything, he'll be hooked. Sounds like a nice site you are bringing him to. The Ace will get the job done for him too.

Jim

Actually Jim he is bringing me to the site. It is his hunting camp. He has seen a grave marker next to a big oak tree dating to 1820....I pray for an injun or a Largie. Never been hunted either!! I am very excited. He will call an let me know what time we are leaving in the AM>

Lend him the f75 any you use the ace, that way you have a detecting partner for life cos he will sure find things, you should too with being more experienced

I will for sure do that kered. I will start him out with the Ace then Turn him loose with the F75. I am just excited that we are even going. I haven't had a full 8 hours to hunt since I started. I am gonna swing till I can't swing anymore. Right now I am trying to get everything together for us to use. I bought another set of headphones for the Ace 250, another utility shovel. Only thing now I have to come up with is a pouch for his finds and another hand digger. They are all outside so I think I have us covered. MAN one of those I-Flip High Definition Video cameras with the waterproof case sure would come in handy right now. Love to get some digs on camera.

Well my friend and I went out on our hunt last weekend. We found some really cool relics. No coins though. Was a little bummed out , but you can' t find them all. I DID get to shoot a quick video of a Cemetery we found out in the middle of the woods. The dates range from 1811 to 1829 or so. I figure that there is a house site out here close to where we were. Reason being is that this cemetery sits on top of a hill with a small stream below it about 50 or so feet down. There is an open flat area by the creek that we didn't hunt. We hunted around the top of the hill and in the surrounding woods. Didn't find much, but when it cools off and hunting season is over we will be heading back out there. 90+ degree heat and 100% humidity will kill a treasure hunter. Here is a video of our hill...

I will post pictures of our finds in a little while check back for that...

a cemetery in the woods the same way. The tombstones are there, back to the 1850's, the ground over the graves is depressed, the coffins must of caved in. We left them alone and didn't disturb anything, it felt somewhat eerie been there. You never know what you will find out in the woods, watch out for yellow jacket nests also. HH

Yellow Jackets really don't bother me. My fear are what us southerners call "No Shoulders" ....Snakes...Oh I hate em.. Rattlers, cottonmouths, copperheads...very common where I like to hunt. Little buggers scare the be-Jesus out of me. Sometimes my fear of snakes overcomes my will to treasure hunt.
