on how to use the Fisher 1270X ??? This detector appears to be a very powerful machine. I went out today (first time hunt) and at times I felt as if I was driving and out of control Roman chariot!!!! Could this unit be used in coin/ring hunting in parks that are fairly trashy? Anyone have a disc system or park hunting technique that they could share? Help me out.............I could use lots of advice and tips on this one. And a big thanks to those who have cared enough to help me out!!! I know that Fisher 1270X users are in the minority, so responses will be minimal....thanks anyways.

Ivan,
I don't have a lot of tips and tricks because I done some trading a I let the 1270 go.

One thing that I like to do with the 1270 was hunt silver coins or to test an area to see if it had older coins. It wasn't a big deal, I just ran the disc up to max and the sensitivity up as high as I could stand. You may have noticed that the 1270 does not lose depth with higher disc settings, so you can swing along and it will be running noisy and you would think you couldn't find anything with all the noise, but when it goes over a good target the noise will stop and you will get a good positive response to the target, most of the time for me I was getting wheat pennies or silver dimes.

You may want try this either on a real world hunt or just lay a coin on the ground get an idea how it will respond when running noisy and then it hits a good target.

One other thing, I like the 5x10 elliptical coil best, it gave good depth and ground coverage and handled pretty good in the trash.

Good luck,

Hi,
In real trashy areas I use the white 5inch coil.
It covers less ground than the 8incher but has way better seperation and pin point abilities.
With the 10 1/2 inch coil pin pointing takes a bit of practise.
I have more accurate detectors when it comes to pin pointing with a big coil -. this is not one of the strong points of the 1270.
Just my opinion of course
