Anyone around Myrtle Beach next week?

OLDKY

New member
I'll be in Myrtle beach next week, thought maybe someone would like to hunt, I have never hunted the beach before be a first for me. Sure would like some help.
Kind of slow at my age but hope to find something. Thanks:)

No where Myrtle Beach; but if you have to go it alone here's a few tips to keep in mind.

Look for low area's above the water line, easy to spot as they will mostly likely be damp
and/or a different color than higher area's.

Look for a high tide line, this may be a jagged weed line with or without other junk mixed
in with it. Can also be a some times wide area of seashells laying exposed on the
surface whereas the rest of the area will not have any or at least far less.

Beach access points that people use to get to the water can also be good as these area's
are normally in dry loose sand and hard for people to see any small idem if they drop one.

Area's where people play any kind of games.

The chair lines where they sit or lay to get some sun.

These are but a few of the spot's you want to hunt at any beach.

Hunt in all metal and dig all target's is the best way on the beach and try to hunt
low and slow so you have a chance to find the deeper stuff.
Better to hunt a smaller area than trying to hunt the whole beach fast and shallow.
All the beaches on the coast have been hunted for years by every kind of detector and
every skill level, keep this in mind and if you don't find much enjoy your time anyway
because that's the real treasure. HH

I am headed to Myrtle in a few weeks. First time ever going there for me. I just purchased a new Eurotek Pro I hope to use while i am there.

Thanks, D-Tex for the information I need all the help I can. I will look for these things you mention I had no idea on a lot of this style of hunting, Like I said be first for me. I will be on the South End of the beach for about a week for sure, leaving out this weekend. I hope someone might want to hunt a little also.
So anybody wants to hunt with a old relic hunter let me know. This whole water sand thing is new to me. but I hope to enjoy it. hammer0419, I wish you the best hope you do good, be nice if we could get in a hunt, I might stay on North End second week but the wife wants to head to Tennessee so not sure on where I will be. I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks..

D-Tex, sorry to get off topic a little have you ever done much relic hunting?. That's all I have ever done.

Have done only a little relic hunting, but have some places I will try one of these days.

Problem is, where I am most everywhere is privet land and people won't let you hunt

there land ( Texas ). Also the sites I want to hunt are a long way off. But maybe some day.

And as I said before, don't try to hunt to much of the beach, start at the waters edge and

hunt up or down it for 50 yards then move in and just far enough so your new tract in the

opposite direction will over lap your swing. Repeat till you have hunted to about 25 feet

from the water. If time and body holds out, move 100 yards and repeat.

Hunt in all metal mode, listen you small and deep signals, keep coil CLOSE to the sand

and use a SLOW swing, use ear phones ( very important !!! ) turn volume up as high as

you can stand it in order to hear any faint signals. HH

POSSIBLY WILL BE IN MYRTLE BEACH 7/19 TO 7/26 WATING TO SEE IF WE CAN STILL FIND A PLACE ON THE BEACH. WILL LET YOU KNOW
