Anybody using the

I am looking for feedback from anyone useing the DX-1 probe on there MXT. I am looking very hard at purchasing one for my MXT. I have heard posters rave about the X-1 on there Minelabs.
I will be gratefull for any info.
Thanks Shawn HH:detecting:

Shawn, I have a DX-1 mounted on my MXT. I find it to be a very useful accessory to find those very small or hard to find targets. I had a problem with the probe sent an email to Sunray and was told to send it back for repairs. The cord had separated inside the connection it was replaced for a reasonable fee and returned in perfect working order. I think you would like a DX-1 especially when you find targets that are elusuive.

Put one on my MXT a few months ago and now wouldn't be caught without it, fell in love on the first outting. Use to use a different probe and had a lot of false signal problems, this is not an issue with the DX-1. It's very good on small targets, cut way down on my digging time and hole size, really pinpoints exactly where your target is which is nice for coinshooting in public places.. Spent the money and never looked back.. Bob

The SunRay probes are by far the best probe on the market, they may cost more, but feel you will find more as you will be finding the target faster and going on to the next target. It saves so much digging too as we know a coin on edge will throw off the pinpointing and make it hard to find, some even give up trying to find the target, but with the SunRay probe you can get right in the hole and find it plus ID it.
I am glad to hear Ralph at SunRay is making these probes for other detectors than the Minelab so anyone can see how great they are and like most I am spoiled now and would find it hard to detect without a SunRay Probe. I have one on my Sovereign GT, my Explorer XS and my MXT and if they had one for my Tesoro it would have one too.

your target is a small item. On the beach it may fall through the holes in your sand scoop. Much quicker than passing handfuls of sand over the coil until you finally get it.

In black dirt I quickly find small pieces of metal from lead shot to shoe eyelets that keep giving me a signal but elude my eye.

Hey, it is usually trash but then, I wouldn't know if I didn't dig it up. It sounded good enough to dig but can be very frustrating when you have to give up because you cannot find it.

Also when rusty old iron gives you a good signal, many times the signal disappears after you remove some of the topsoil. Is it a coin on edge that you have just moved or jammed into the side of the hole? The probe will quickly tell you. In the case of rusty iron, you will still get a signal at the bottom of the hole even though the detector will no longer sense it. Once I have lost it and detected it at the bottom with the probe it is usually iron and usually much deeper. Forgettaboutit! Go on to another target.

The only drawback it the weight when you use any of the oversize coils. It't not much but it all adds up. Of course it does make your arm stronger.
