I gust got a IDX pro A few mths ago for $350. I love the weight and real easy to use Ive been finding coins 8" deep. The most Ive found was using a whites 4900 (newer black box) . It is really sensitive it found the smallest ear rings. I regret selling it. Then i used the 6000 Di pro sl for about 5 years, just to heavy for long hunts. I plan to get a Mr Bills upgrade for this IDX pro unit. So far i ve been happy with it. I have not tried it a the beach yet.

I've never used one, but I read great things about them. I've actually bid on a few on Ebay. I have never read any negative things about Mr. Bill's mod. Everyone I read about says it was money well spent. Good luck!

I used to own a IDX Pro but sold it to buy an ML X-70. Two different machines. I bought the X-70 because I wanted more info before I dug and a machine for salt water beaches.

When the IDX found a coin it locked on to that coin with a strong and clear tone. With the deeper coins I would hear a softer tone but it would lock. Nickles were a bit difficult because the fall in the junk area on the ID screen and for some reason the IDX didn't lock as well on nickles. It did find coins in junky parks, I found 3 IH pennies 5' below pultabs and bottle caps. The machine is very balanced and durable. I miss the pinpoint toggle switch (perfect pinpointing better than my x-70). I tried the machine on salt water beaches and the machine could not perform. It was screaming at me as soon as I got near the water line. I didn't have the upgrade so I don't know if that improves salt water performance. I have heard the upgrade is worth the money. You paid a good price for the IDX Pro. I hope this helps.

I have an IDX for a second detector and it has Bill's mod. With the mod it is the same as the IDX Pro. The mod will get you extra depth (he calls it a boost circuit) and the external G/B is great if you need it in your ground. I just leave a 5.3 coil on it all the time and use it in tot lots and trashy sites. If you need it I can sent you the info on how to set it up to use at the beach. Rob

Thanks Rob Ill get the MrBills upgrade in a week or two test it out. I would be happy to learn how you set yours up for the beach. The external ground balance should be key. Talk soon Dave.

The exterior ground balance is a great help at the beach. Between that, and a slight tweaking of the discriminator, should get you running quite well.
