Anybody use EMI/RFI filters on their omegas?

I know Omegas often have issues with electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. Would clip-on EMI/RFI filters fix that problem?

Thanks!

Phillip

I've tried them, and ended up taking them off. Read a thread on here about it, so I figured I would try it out. It's a shame the Omega is so horrible with EMI. Must be the Omegas frequency because the Teknetics G2(uses same coils/same style electronic housing) is a dream to run at full sensitivity.

I have bought probably a dozen or so of those things and even though they do what the do and I have them on ALL my coils for all my detectors I haven't noticed that they have helped anything so far.

I live next to an airport and sometimes I can't turn any of my detectors on without them going nuts! (at any setting)
As far as the Omega is concerned it doesn't seem to be any worse for EMI than any of my other detectors. But! I normally run the sensitivity below 70 and the manual states that the Omega has a two step sensitivity control and above 70 you will hear circuit noise (that isn't EMI) But, with the 11" DD coil a sensitivity setting of 65 its still running pretty darn deep, it will hit my 8" coin garden really well and even ID's good at that depth.

Now, If I want to run it hotter I found that one tone helps, it also helps if you notch out certain unwanted groups when doing this I can run the sensitivity at MAX and it does very well and hit the 8" garden good even with the coil held up a few inches off the ground. But, running the certain items notched is okay for coin hunting but it could cause you to pass up some jewelry.

Sensitivity of 65 to 70 is running pretty darn hot on the Omega.
I usually run my disc up t about 51, sensitivity to around 65 and my ground balance ends up around 59-61 and that's with the 11" DD coil.

I only bought four of those filters to start with and they were being sold to use on metal detectors. After I got them and saw what they were the next ten or twelve I got I just bought 7mm TDK clip on filters they turned out to be the EXACT same thing for like a dollar a piece. I found them doing a search on the "Big" online auction site.
