Anybody tried a super sniper coil for ATpro yet?

INCH

I was just wondering if any of U have any info on the smaller coil With the furious black beauty yet. I have been hunting a super trashed out area and was thinking about a smaller coil for my ATpro. I know" same question people have asked over the years about detectors, but the ATpro is really winning on the depth part. So I really would like to invest in a smaller coil for this junk yard I am hunting in .

I haven't yet....but I sure am. If It is hotter then the sniper is on the ACE, it's going to be a great coil for this trashy spots and tight spots.

I wonder if Garrett plans to have a 5x10" DD for the AT Pro? They already have the molds, so it shouldn't be a problem to make. Would be a great trash coil and nuggetshooter. ..Willy.

I would really like to see a small DD for the AT PRO.

Got one ordered for getting close to logs and tree bases.

My AT Pro was shipped on the 22nd don't have it yet ,..... But from what i read it will be a pain to change coils on the AT Pro.......

It will probably be similar to changing coils on the Infinium. You just have to plan your hunts and locations wisely and maybe bring along another detector.

I really dont understand the coil connection issue . From what people have read or physically found out from experience of connecting the coil is beyond me. About 30 seconds and alittle questioning and gentleness and its a done deal

Not all the detectors are the same. Some are easy and some are a real bear. I've been connecting coils for 46 years. I haven't forgotten how.

As somebody pointed out in another thread-once the paint wears off of the threads, the collars spin quite easily. If you're concerned about alignment of the pins, put a dot of marking paint on the detector and one on the coil connector..keep the dots lined up and go to town! I understand folks that aren't mechanically inclined being a little intimidated but this is a simple process that really only requires slowing down and paying attention.

Can't wait for my sniper coil though-I have place to use it!

Well I got news for you. I'm as mechanically inclined as they come as I spent the best part of 36 years putting high rises, shopping centers, hospitals, military facilities, and sports stadiums together all over this country and I had a helluva time with mine. They ain't all the same, just like any production line product.

Bill.

Yeah I hear ya Uncle Willy, It was a little of a challenge, I should just keep my pie hole shut, but I did have to get out in the right light and turn my neck in different directions and make sure it was good and was in there... about a minute and it worked for me . Like you stated they aint all the same., and my ace250 I think has a 5 pin connector with the pins reversed as to th ATpro

My coil connector was easy..but the headphone connector was quite a pain...:rage:

Willy, I'm not trying to insult anybody-my deal is that I look at it in terms of what we GOT. We just got a badarse land detector that is also waterproof. Seems to me that the coils (and phones) being able to be changed is enough of a blessing that a little extra care when changing doesn't add up to much! Maybe I'm just willing to put up with it? Yes it's a challenge, even a little scary thinking you might bend a pin, but I just think this issue is overstated. At least we don't have to deal with the lack of connectors like the poor TigerShark folks! Now what I do think will be a potential issue is getting dirt in the o-rings. This would exist for any waterproof detector that has removeable connections though. My previous water unit was an Excal. I replaced o-rings in that unit and I was incredibly stressed out about it the first time it took a dunk! Those units are not meant to be messed with! I have a friend with a Tiger, simply a GREAT unit. However, he's mentioned feeling like he's on borrowed time with his connectors-they work now but what happens if they leak? I will say this though-I'd have been just as happy with AT if the headphone connector were sticking out of the front panel and the coil connector was in a more accessible location to facilitate 360 degree access.

Again, not trying to put down anybody, just trying to be a glass half-full kinda guy here...

Yeah the connectors are in an oddball place and a perfect place to collect dirt, mud, etc. when water hunting. But it's such a great machine guess we have to sacrifice something.
