I was out at a site I have been visiting with several good friends for a couple of months now. It is located on the edge of where a series of Civil War skirmishes occurred and we have been finding a good mix of relics and coins. This past Saturday, the 5th of November, I had a very happy day hunting. In addition to 19 Civil War bullets, I landed my first ever Union "US" belt buckle in terrific condition. It was my fourth signal of the morning just after 9AM. The buckle was about 9 inches deep. It registered on the AT Pro around 58 and after I dug out a nice large plug going down about 7 inches I used my Pro Pointer to determine the target was still in the hole but close. So I used my digger to ease into the dirt and I hit something solid. I was expecting to find another bullet so I probed around and kept feeling something solid and metallic. I figured it was probably a can of some kind but I carefully found the edge and gently dug under it and pulled it out of the hole. It came up in a clump of dirt and when I dropped it next to the open hole the dirt clump rolled over and the front of the buckle was facing up to me. I immediately knew what it was so I calmly put my digger and Pro Pointer down, set my headphones down, yelled to get the attention of my two friends who were about 20 paces away from me, and when I had their attention I went into my "happy dance". They both came running over and when they saw the buckle they did the happy dance too. This is a super find and, along with the bullets, is a great testament to the capabilities of the AT Pro, which is a super relic hunter.
