So I'm wondering if any of you guys thirsting for a 12x10 or perhaps a Ultimate (if Kellyco will do that coil as well, as they said they'll consider this approach for other no longer carried products?) are going to get groups of 10 together to get one? Be nice to hear some people chime in and just say "I've got my order in", so others know that enough people have placed pre-orders to make the thing happen. Some of you guys might have found a used one by now or something, but they sure look hard to find used for all the Minelabs, and not just the BBS units, which speaks well to how good people like them.
You might be thinking..."What do you care Critter, you don't work for them." Reason being that I really do believe the 12x10 is the best coil I've ever used on any machine over the years. It's depth, left/right separation, and stability is outstanding IMO. I've seen with my own eyes and ears what it did for my Sovereign to push it along in performance. For one thing, it runs at higher sensitivity levels/stability, better left/right separation, and has more depth for me *in my soil* than the already excellent 10" Tornado in those respects. It'll pop me wheats or silver dimes in mineralized ground under dry conditions more "effortlessly" at say 8 or 9", without as much need to wiggle the ID/tone out of a coin at that depth. That might not seem too outstanding in your soil but in mine it's a feat for any machine I've owned over the years to pull them that deep with a solid ID, at least in dry conditions. While the Tornado has outstanding left/right separation, the unique shape of the 12x10 seems to compress the width of the DD line, making separation also more "effortless" as well. Tones also seem more crisp with it, which I suspect has something to do with the sharpness of that DD line. It literally feels like the processor has been sped up on the machine due to the more sharp reaction between targets. It's a bit louder on deep targets too...
But the 13" Ultimate seems as good of a coil in many respects. It seems to make deep stuff even louder, though I have no trouble hearing coins at depth with the 12x10 even with the volume on my GT turned all the way down. Not sure yet if the Ultimate is as deep but if anything my head to head comparisons show it's very close. At least in air tests it only showed about a half inch less depth, but in comparison on marked undug targets it's hit anything deep the 12x10 has thus far. In terms of separation, the Ultimate shocks me for a coil of it's size. I doubt it separates width wise as well as the 12x10 just due to the unique shape of the SEFs to compress the DD line, but darn if I can notice any difference in the field yet between them on that. Only *slight* negative I can say about the Ultimate thus far are two things- It tends to run at somewhat lower sensitivity than the 12x10 at the same sites head to head due to both EMI and ground minerals. I've seen it chatter a bit at the same sensitivity setting with the coil still, which tells me that's due to EMI. And even when it ran at the same sensitivity setting with no chatter when held still, at some sites it would null too much due to the ground minerals, so I had to lower sensitivity some from where the 12x10 ran so the Ultimate didn't null from the ground matrix. I have run this coil at full sensitivity at some sites though, which tells me it's a well designed and built coil.

Kellyco Joe said:Hi Guys,
I have discussed the feedback from the forum with our purchasing manager regarding the 12 x 10 Sovereign coils, and he has agreed to make a limited special purchase of these coils. We will reinstate the coil on our website to take orders under the following conditions:
What we need now are orders.
- Orders will be taken and items shipped on a first come basis, when they are gone, they are gone.
- Orders will be special purchase.
- Buyers will have to wait for the coils to come-in.
We'll watch this product carefully to see how this works and consider this approach for other discontinued products in the future.
Hope this helps!
