I did not find this coin with my detector. I found it while going through an old box I haven't opened since I was a kid (my parents wanted me to come pick up a few of my old boxes of crap that were cluttering their basement lol). Anyway I remember having this coin, but can't remember where I got it. I can't find any information about it anywhere, and I'm curious. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

Everything I'm about to say is simply a "best guess", so take it for what it's worth

I'm guessing that's a privately minted "round", and isn't tagged with a currency value because it's not a "coin". I "think" there was some recent problems with some folks minting coins and calling them "coins", which unless they're from the US Mint, they're not coins.

I searched a bit, and couldn't find any info on it either (being 1/2 oz), but that doesn't mean much since I don't have any knowledge of coinage (or gold/silver). If you find-out something about it, it'd be interesting to hear what you learn.

Maybe a coin-collector will see your post and be able to offer some accurate advice?

It is a 1/2 Oz of silver. Save it as conversation piece or cash in. At the price of silver today worth right at 13.00.

Several of the club sponsored competition hunts I attend give out similar silver "rounds" as prizes. As to the silver content they're worth more than most silver coins as they are .999 pure whereas silver currency varies with most older US coins being 90%. I don't know how many different concerns have produced them, but have at least 10 different ones in my collection. With the current rising price of silver they're worth having, for sure.
