Anybody modified a Golden Sabre II ????

I'll probably cut a new faceplate so I don't wreak the original.

Want to add a gb switch for fixed/manual and add a manual gb pot.

Want to move the notch width pot to the faceplate.

Want to lower the freq of the the low tone.

Wouldn't mind moving the threshold control to the front either.

May just try to recreate it into something like an Advantage setup.

Anyone else done much to one of these machines?

Try //thunting.com/geotech/forums/ A lot of mods being done to tesoro, also may find schematics ETC.
BTW what is Your opinion of the performance,Esp sepesration of targets?

Sorry Monte, but I haven't had this one outside yet.

First and foremost Tesoro is quite liberal with fixing machines that haven't been modded and doubt if they would touch them once major mods have been done so that should be taken into consideration..The only thing I ever done was change the notch width knowing where the factory setting is and if it goes in for repair just change it back to factory spec's..Can easily be changed with an internal pot setting..If you can find a nice Pantera its pretty close to what your trying to accomplish..To me its an older unit and seems like Tesoro is going backwards with newer units judging by this...

Where did you find the box and is the box water proof, that is, with a good seal on the lid. I have a royal saber that I use for water hunting. I use a Troy coil on it and it has a long cable. It is hot on rings also. I also put an external ground balance control and have tuned the notch so that it rejects most pull tabs and accepts thin 10K rings.

hi
the box is waterproof good seal heres the link http://www.mountainsports.com/MSmain.asp?Option=Detail&Detail=006303

also i waterproofed the headphones

i had to cut back the case knob protect area to accommodate the unit but it fit right in

if you need any more info p.m me
good hunting

For freshwater just the best on gold rings and hunting with zero discrimination a bobby pin or nail chatter but small gold chains can be had as they give a distinct hit..Applicable to most older Tesoro's that were hipmountable and even if you don't have this mod you can put the box in your waders and do some shallow water hunting..Might want to pick up the 10 inch white donunut coil as it covers more area and stays down better as its heavier...
