Anybody here hunt with an Excal in a backpack?

I was digging around in the basement and found a small Lowepro nylon backpack (for camera gear) that looks like it will fit the Excal and battery. Any of you seasoned Excal pros hunt with your detector in a backpack?

I guess it is possible, but why would you want to? Belt or hip mounting is very cheap. Access to the knobs is very important. The chest harness is a very nice way to hunt. The Excal is right there for adjustment. No getting in your way swinging or digging. But me I mounted mine on a rear extension coming out the back of a GT shaft. Everyone likes it a little different. If you want yours in a back pack go for it. Unless it is a Barbie back pack.

Hey goodmore, cracked up me on that one...

And Goodmore is right, I was thinking excal with several ad ons, but went sovereign and found I need the knobs to where I can touch them without having to pull everything apart.

I was looking at chest mounts, but after seeing plugger's mount picture I wonder if wouldn't you keep hitting the connectors when swinging the coil back and forth?

I mounted mine higher than the guy in the pic. That actually looks more like a belly mount. Compared to a hip mount the chest mount offered less interference with the detector to me. The only way I could make a hip mount work was to mount it in the rear. And I hated not seeing the controls. With the chest mount I feel like I could have hunted all day. If you go this route or any off the shaft route remember to put a safety catch on the cable. A wave washing the shaft out of your hand will put tremendous stress on the housing if the cable is pulling on it.
