Want to try out my new detector but the grounds frozen here, heading south Friday and was wondering how far South I need to go. Was thinking Cape Girardeau.
 
You will not have to go that far. I bet you could probably be ok near KC or Stl. I live in central MO and the ground is not frozen here at all. Come down my way and maybe we can go to a few spots. Mostly public parks though so no shovels.
 
I hunted southern Iowa Saturday and Sunday. Inch or 2 of rotten frost dug all I wanted.
