Anybody here ever waterproof a Sovereign GT?

I am also thinking about getting a Sovereign GT and converting it for wet sand work at the beaches. It's basically an Excal except it's not waterproof.

Don't waste your time and money. Get an Excalibur. Once you start hunting the water you're eventually going to want to get all the way in. Start off right.

According to his Sig i think he already has one. Would be interesting to see some mods as i have an old XS2aPro just begging for it

Putting it in the Pelican box solves a lot of problems. Obviously the water doesn't get to it. I would just be worried about protecting the battery components. Hmm, that is already on the box itself, correct? How does the Soverign GT function on the beach? It should function just as well as the Excal 1K as they are utilizing the same BBS technology.

Probably the best beach detector ever made, I've just got an Explorer SE but i'm not 100% convinced its better, time will tell

Dude...spend the extra bucks and get the Excal. Bite the bullet.

Then you will have the best of both worlds. And backup machines capable of living in both worlds.

BITE the bullet! :)

Gotta love the this guy. He says like it is! Only reason I started thinking like this is because we just found out our landlord defaulted on his mortgage and now our place is foreclosed so I was thinking about the money as we will have to move eventually but we can stay here for a while rent free. The courts are so backlogged it will take many, many months before we have to move. They offered us a cash-for-keys agreement but I rejected it. They didn't even come close to offering us the standard amount. I start some extra work this week and I finish it off next week. Between what I got from my mother, this extra work and a little I threw in last week I'll be able to get the Excal near the end of Oct. Mike , have you ever thought of getting the 15x12 SEF coil for your Excal? You would be hitting the bottom of the shoes of the people in China while using your beach scoop.

PS) Plus if I got the GT I know I'll be moaning & groaning when it's raining out and then I would have wished I got the waterproof machine.

Yeah, I've thought about it. Maybe I'll get one for Christmas.

As for shucking out the extra bucks for the Excal, all I can say is that ONE RING or ONE CHAIN can easily pay for that. And then it's ALL icing on the cake after that. :)

You have a point there.
