I want to add the external GB knob like Sven has does anybody here do it? I asked MR.BILL but he says no

I think the consensus is to open and adjust the g/b trimmer to power ground balance to the most prevalent conditions in your area. I've read that just doing this, in some cases, added 4".

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to add a link here, but this link shows the mod you ask for.

I just completed the mod and it made the Cibola a very nice detector with the ten turn GB and a trigger PP and locking All Metal mode. I ordered the parts from Digi-Key which were a little bit cheaper, the pot was $13.61 and switch was $3.45, plus a couple of bucks for shipping. The part numbers are 3590S-2-503L-ND and EG2393-ND if you are interested. They also have a couple of knobs, one that will work real nice for $7 and and one that looks like the originals for $12....... I haven't gone that far yet because turning the shaft by hand is very easy, but I will get a knob on there one of these days.

The mod took me about an hour but I am well experienced in the field, I would not recommend the mod for a complete novice to electronic repair, too many things can go wrong. I had a couple of the delicate wires come off of the PC board but I had a pretty good idea where they went and soldered them back on. I might suggest taking pictures of both sides of the PC board when starting just in case that happens to you. I didn't find it necessary to remove the knobs and potentiometers from the face plate as described in the step by step, but again if it is easier for you, do it.

For me, it was worth the $20 plus the cost of a knob yet to come.

Am I correct the toggle switch just replaces the push button ?

From the link below:

Pinpoint wires are connected to a three position toggle switch pull it for
momentary push it for all metal lock or center is discriminate. Just remember
on the switch when its in the off position center in this case the wires are an
open circuit so its in disc when you turn on the switch you connect the wires
and put it in all metal.
