Anybody have problems with their sunray?

bigjohn070

I'm in process to get a E-TRAC. I now hunt with the X-70 and Garrett pro pointer (no in line:shrug:)
That being said two of my friends have sunrays one on a mxt the other on EXP II
And they both have more range of detection than me.(they should)
But my friend insist he has heard people say the X-1 does not work as good on the
E-TRAC I keep telling him he's crazy.(he has the mxt go figure)
Is there any truth to this Thanks in advance.

I love my Sunray probe on my E-Trac. I have not had one problem with it. I too had the X-Terra 70 and had to carry a pin pointer with me. The X-1 is so convenient that I will never be without one no matter what detector I purchase in the future.

No problem with the Sunray on the E-Trac, BUT... if you hunt in auto sens on the E-Trac and you are used to using high manual sensitivity on the Explorer it will SEEM to be less sensitive.
For the most part this has not been a problem. If more sensitivity is needed, just hit the right arrow on the touchpad and you'll be in manual sensitivity.

I would not hunt without having my X-1 Probe. It takes a lot less work for this old man to dig targets. I gave them to my Son's for there EXP II and the Garrett GTI 2500. They are hooked on them as well. Get one for your E-Trac. You will never be sorry. HH...Jesse.

I wouldn't be without one, love it.

One member of the club I'm with has a large shift in ID numbers when using the X-1 on the e-trac, that could have been due to age of the X-1.

I bought mine new and no problems at all. Get one you'll love it!

Nick A is spot on about the less depth issue on the E-Trac when in auto Sensitivity at around 25 and below.Just flick it to Manual 30 or a little less and you get very good depth,Ray.

Thanks guy's thats what i thought no problems
with the sunray. My buddy always has more depth
with his sunray than i do with my garrett.
Plus you can still id the target. Can't wait

I think your Buddy is messing with you :)They work great with every detector that i have Used/Heard people mention. Its an awesome add on to your arsenal.Good luck with the New machine :)HH

I have an Etrac with the Sun Ray probe, it works fantastic to say the least. You wont be disappointed. Just dont forget to flip the switch back to the detector when you finish digging, I seem to do that alot.
The first timei it happened, I went for 10+ minutes trying to figure out what was wrong with the detector when I realized the switch was still on the probe setting.

Your friend is trying to be 'one-up' by discouraging you to get one for the ET. I first had mine on my SE and then switched it to my ET. I have the pro pointer too. I let friends use it when they go with me. I won't let anyone use the X-1. I have too much of and advantage when using that fine piece of equipment. Jim

LOL ...I have done that once or 5 times hehe ..Laugh at myself everytime.1st time I thought my detector broke...I was baffled.I honestly would feel like i was missing half my gear if i didnt have it.

The X1 is a great pinpointer. I've found if your using the coin program or Andy's ( or any program similar) ,you have to go to a open screen. Since the X1 may not pick it up because of the discrmation.

I have been using the sunray on first my SE then the E-trac,switched from one to the other with no problems it increases finds and cuts recovery time down to a 1/4 of the time spent in the past on deeper coins and surface coins too. NO Problem unit, sold several and the quality is outstanding. :minelab:Hardrock

I have a sunray on an Ace 250 and love it. But with the E-trac I use the Garret. I don't have the extra weight of the box and no cables to mess with. I think the garret is just as good as the sunray. I just carry it in my back pocket and I don't have to worry about forgetting to hit the switch.
