Anybody have info on C$ and bottle caps?

Took the new C$ out yesterday and set dicrim at 99, thres -5, sens at 5, turned off all notches as was looking for deep silver and copper pennies. I have hit this park probably a dozen or more times and know for a fact there is still good silver hidden in the trash. I got a 1907 Barber Half there with Sovereign GT last Fall and had been over it many time before. Well after about 2 hours w/C$ I found 1 penny, 1 clad dime and 18 rusty bottle caps!!!! HELP, is there a secret to rid these pesky thing? My XL Pro I can tell by sound on bottle caps but couldn't differentiate sound difference w/C$. Digital ID on them ranged from 27 to 36 giving me false hopes of dimes and quarters...
Took C$ out again last evening to another spot and found 1 penny and 8 more rusty bottle caps to add to my new collection. Put it in the truck and pulled out the XL Pro and didn't dig another bottle cap but in the next hour dug 9 quarters, (1 silver, 1944), 4 clad dimes, and five pennies.
I sure hate to think that there is not a way to rid the bottle caps or at least be able to hear the difference. Any tips??????
Anyone interested in old rusty bottle cap collection?

Perhaps he can chime in...I owned one when they first hit the street and although they are a nice machine encountered the same problem so I know its just not me...Inqiring minds would like to know so any ideas do chime in...By the way some nice dealer prices on this unit for brand new units with warranties...

It has a very good article on the CS and bottle caps.

Well in my experience if you raise the coil a few inches up as you swing the cap will drop target id # and a coin will stay high. But this comes from a newbie too and I'm still digging some of them dumb caps. lol
Also if you go to the F75 forum and go to the last page and work to the more present ones you can get a lot of info on the C$,id edge, and excel as that was the old C$ classroom and all the old post are still there.Hope that helps.

to raise the coil a bit, thanks I appreciate it and I will try it.

& yes ,I was going to suggest raising the coil some & should should see the numbers drop down where a coin will "lock" & stay a high tone....
Another thing to try is to sweep faster and also sweep over the target in several different directions can sometimes help....
It was called the coinstrike for a reason, due to it's frequency & like for round objects. This may not seem like much of an answer for you, but since I hunt mainly Colonial sites, I never enountered a caps problem to have to devise solutions for. But, those C$ users that stuck with it all said the same thing....raise the coil some.
Hope that helps,
Bill
