Great coil. Separates in trash well.
[size=large]i buy according to reputation of a item. if i hear alot of the old guys using things i listen to experience. i hear complaints about things then i don't buy it. as for the ml8" i haven't heard anything good or bad. most 8" coils i've heard about are the 8x6 SEF and the Sun ray 8" DD coil.
i'm sure te ml 8" has it's place. i just haven't heard where. no news may be good news.

That is the one I run, I use it more than the 10" coil. It could have a narrower detection width, but I do like the coil. I have no other 8" for my SE though, so I have no comparison for the SE and comparing it to the Xterra coils just is not valid. I hunt a lot of trashy old home sites and it does well for that. I think I read that the S8 has a narrower detection width but not sure. Search for Bryce's coil comparisons and reviews, he made a post that had links to probably every Explorer coil (that he has ran).

I bought a minelab 8 inch coil , i was not happy with the depth and so sold it , it seemed to loose quite a bit of depth over my 10.5 FBS fitted to my explorer 2 .
The target seperation in trash was a little better than the explorer 10.5 coil but i found nothing deep with it. It was loosing a good 2 inches on coin depth at least,

Doctorcoinz -- I am not sure that losing 2" of depth in going from the 10.5" coil to the 8" coil is surprising...makes sense to me. In my experience, you generally WILL lose depth going to a smaller coil; the only reason to go down in size is to get better separation in trash, which you said you did, but I don't think it is reasonable not to expect to lose depth, and 2" seems about right, to me. I'd say my 6x8 SEF is 2" less deep, roughly, than my 11" Pro coil, when running some iron mask. Just my thoughts.
