Anybody have a Ace 150? Need some Help Please!

I purchased my Ace 150 a while ago....I immediately watched the video and read the owners manual. Shortly after, I went to a local park mostly just to learn the detector's abilities and disabilities. It didn't take me long, and I was very proficient with my 150. I learned how to adjust the settings for the type of terrain and how to adjust the discrimination mode for the best results. I have to say that I'm very impressed with this detectors abilities, even as an entry level detector.
Here's my issue: I'm getting really tired of finding nothing but PENNIES! Anybody else have this problem? Here's the situation: I've learned to keep the detector off the "All Metal" mode, simply because it finds and picks up nothing but iron trash. So I almost always keep it set on "Jewelry" Mode. Secondly, the detector see's Gold and Pull Tabs as the same thing. And its almost Always correct when it tells me I've found a pull tab.....so I don't bother digging anymore when I get the Pull Tab indication. Lastly, when I get the "Nickel or Rings" indications, it never is. Its always either Foil or junk metal or a pull tab. So I don't bother digging on those indications either. But as I mentioned, the detector is remarkably accurate when it indicates "Silver or Coins." Unfortunately, probably 90% of which are PENNIES!
So here's my questions to all you experts out there:
(1) Should I use the "All Metal" mode more often in case I'm missing some good treasure on rare occasion? Nevermind the wasted time digging up all the junk.....
(2) Should I dig up all the Pull Tabs indications anyway? In the off chance that it might be gold? Again, considering the huge waste of time.....
(3) Considering the "Nickel and Rings" indications: I really don't know what to do.....I've had no luck with them at all. Of all the Nickel indications I've gotten, only ONE was actually a nickel. The rest has been Foil and Junk. And I've haven't found a Ring yet! Even though it indicates quite often, and its usually Foil, junk or a pull tab.
So, I don't know what to do about those two indications.
After all that, what I'm left with, is a very expensive PENNY finder! Granted, every once in a while I'll find a dime or even rarer, a quarter. But 90% are pennies as I mentioned.....its just starting to get frustrating and honestly, kind of disheartening.
Anybody out there with some good advice or with a ACE 150 also, would be very much appreciated.
Thanks Guys!

When I use my Ace 250 I generally only use it in either coin or jewelry mode. Either mode is the one you would want to use for beaches, schools, and parks.

In order to find gold, and nickels, digging the signals in the gold range are a must. The same goes for penny signals, which can be gold or silver.

Pennies , foil ,and pull tab are all in the range of gold.
You'll have to pay your dues for finding the gold ..
1000 pull tabs to 1 average to find that gold ring.
You may go out and hunt tomorrow and find 2 gold rings in a row.
or hunt a life time and never find one.
Location , location ,is where you'll chance on gold to even your odds.

That's a fact of life, with current detectors, the real good stuff (rings) fall in the same conductivity as the trash. Quarters and dimes should ring up higher though. Also remember, if someone drops a penny, are they gonna pick it up as apposed to a quarter?

amen i agree with all the posts...thats pretty much the same with the 250 and 350. if u really are into the hobby save up for the at pro...that wud help.....like me i just stick with the 350.....i dont go out much tho

We all dig lots of pennies, nothing wrong with that. I have buckets full of them. It's the thrill of what the next target might be that keeps us swinging and digging. If you're not finding silver rings, you need to change your location. You need to think about where in your area is most likely to produce a silver ring. Soccer fields?? Lake swim beach?? A swimming hole down by the river? A grassy area around a swimming pool?? A silver ring will sound just like a nice quarter most times. As for gold, you have to dig a lot of junk to find it, but again, you need to go where the chances of someone losing one would be greatest. If pulltabs, can slaw and foil were worth a penny a piece, I would be flush!! You don't have an expensive penny finder, you have an inexpensive treasure finder, you just need to go where the treasure is.

Your new, you have the detector, you have to become the Hunter, Give it couple thousand targets than you'll know. Do not buy another machine till the 150 pays for itself.

try a bounty hunter tracker 4 ... the tone discrimination will be better for wat you want then the ace series.

Uh-hh. Not quite. I have the Tracker IV and it's a great detector. But when you hit a pulltab infested area, the Tracker will be squawking continuously while the Ace's notch system will not respond to the multitude of tabs. And if you use a/m mode with the Tracker IV, you have no ID or tones to help like the Ace. In that respect, there's a world of difference.
