Anybody got a Ron's meter?

Mike T

Member
I solved my short coil/cable by getting a Ron's meter. In the note enclosed it diagrams how to replace the battery. I thought it was battery free? it looks like a hassle to remove the back plate, any help?

Ron e-mailed me and explained what I wanted to know. These use a long life battery and are energy effecient.

Some meters, such as all the Minelab meters, run off the Sovereign's power. Aftermarket meters might either run off the Sovereign or off their own battery. Some of the old aftermarket ones used a 9V battery but only needed that if you wanted to use the backlight, where as without the 9V the meter would still ID targets. All this info on various meters is in the ID Chart sticky. I dug up all of them and then also posted a run down of the features of all of them for comparison to each other.
