Anybody Ever Try Hooking Up a Lazer Eye to their Machine?

I've been toying with using a battery powered lazer for pin pointing. I'm thinking of mounting it on the main shaft balanced above the coil.Anyone ever try this? Lazers are so small and cheap now and all the power tools are coming out with them now.I have a pen style lazer I was thinking of using.

Heck if anyone knows where I get get a big mother that will cut through ground frost and ice I'm sold!!!

Cheers!

Hi Spanky, I mounted a small flashlight on the shaft which has a pretty focused beam and it is dead center of the coil, works great for those early morning excursions. You might mount a sawed off 12 guage shotgun to the shaft and blow a hole through the ice that way. But I would imagine coil replacement would become a major issue after a few shots haha ! I'm using one of those little Coleman pocket type flashlights. Let us know how the laser pointer works out. CU later Spanky.

If it has any metal in it, you would have to get it a pretty good distance from the coil. Coils pick up metal ABOVE as well as below.

old 12 gauge shotgun. Evertime I fire it it blows off the stock....haha .....maybe a 22 will do less damage and give me deeper penetration:nerd:

Well when I dream up:nerd: the best way to install the lazer I'll post a picture.I'm planning on having it cantilever about 2 feet above the coil and mounting two plastic dental mirrors above the coil to reflect the beam from the main shaft of the detector to the mirror to the centre of the coil.Heck if the mirror is not adjusted right it will probably blind me  but I still have tone of the metal detector to find the object...I'd have to feal around for it though. No idea how I'd get back home though.:yikes:

Cheers!
