Anybody else seeing this?

I am having trouble with my X-70. it turns off sometimes when I sit it down to retreve a target. I have used it for well over a year without problems. I tried ne battries to see if that corrected the problem. It usually will turn right back on. Today it did not want to come on, but it did after awhile. Any ideals??

Just wondering...Are you sure you are latching the battery door down properly?

I think this problem has been posted before. I think it may have something to do with the battery springs.

Chris

This is common. just bend the connectors inside the battery door slightly like a V and this should fix it.

All answers could be correct. The problem stems from dropping the batteries into the battery compartment which compresses the springs in the bottom of the battery compartment. I even when I traveled with mine would lay it so the battery door was down so that the weight of the batteries wouldn't bounce on the springs. When I fixed mine I used a small hook and reached down in the battery compartment and ever so carefully restretched the springs just a bit. If you do this be very careful not to detach the spings.

I had the same problem. The batteries were the problem as they had small nipples on the ends. Try another brand of battery. I use rechargeables and they work great! HH, Mike

It's been a fairly common problem, especially in the early days of the X-Terra. It hasn't cropped up for a while though. You can do what Bill suggests, or send it back to Minelab and get them to replace the battery pack.
