When a small coil with be available for the T-2? Also I have a couple of questions as I am considering getting one in the future. I understand that the T-2 is susceptible to interference at times so how does it do in the fields, woods, and in the country far away from power lines, etc? When lowering sensitivity to deal with interference, how much depth loss generally speaking is there? IF one wishes to disc out iron, how does the T-2 run in iron trash, is it relatively quiet? Thanks ahead of time for the help,HH.

Hi Steve.

According to the T2 website they are looking at 2007 before one will be available. Not necessarily a bad thing as this is First Texas's first DD coil experience and I'm sure they want to get it right. So the more time they have the better the end result will be.

Regarding the interference...I have places here in town that I can run the sens up into the 90s and still get very stable operation. I'm talking like 94 and 95 settings. So the electrical interference isn't a constant issue but rather site specific like any other.

But it is super sensitive to small targets and ground mineral concentrations and it is possible to mistake the ground for electrical interference. I know first hand that what I at first thought was interference turned out to be ground. In those highly magnatic and mineralized sites I am have much better stability with a more negative ground balance and slightly lowered sens setting. I'll post a typically long post about it soon

I don't see alot of trouble in the iron. I typically raise the disc up to 40 to hide the iron and will sometimes get some small signal high side falsing but for the most part its pretty quiet unless I've cranking the sens higher than is appropriate for the site. The 2+ mode is the prefered iron see through mode.

I hunt fields woods and out of the way spots and the machine runs dead quiet. The only time I ran into trouble is with the field I am hunting now. I was directly under some power lines in the beginning. It only made a slight clicking noise on the machine and did not sound like a target. In fact it sounded more like small junk going by so ignoring it was easy. I can elimninate it by lowering the sens or raising the disc. I chose to raise the disc at first but lowered it again as it was just another noise in the audio along with all the other junk in the field I run mine at just below the iron setting. By that I mean you won't dig any by accident or get fooled by it. I run 2+ tone so iron has distinct sound but good targets jump out at you. The 2+ tone setting has increased my finds in the fields. In the the other tone settings 3 and up, iron is silent. It has an alarm type sound for very large pieces of junk that overload the discriminator. As for lowering the sens I found that depth was effected a bit. But the quality of the tone was really effected by that. I run my tone at 90-99 most of the time
