Any word on when the G2 will be coming?

KellyCo had 1 left as of yesterday when I talked to JW so they must be shipping some. I had a dealer order me one and have'nt heard from him so I'll call him tonight. Supposed to have been released April 2010 hope the machine is more competant than their marketing dept. HH

I am testing one and making a video. But the machine is the best relic hunter I have used so far. More testing to really see if this machine can hunt in iron infested nails and pull out any relics.

I have already gone through a couple of batteries evaluating a G2 prototype, and I know of a couple of dealers who received some of G2's about the 14th or so. Word from the factory on Wednesday was that they were getting out there in limited quantities, but they were going out.

I will work up a post on my field work with the G2 prototype, and now on my 3rd 9-V battery, I have enjoyed a lot of work with it. A good measure of things is the T2, which is what I used to help me decide to get my Omega and all coils. Having my Omega and a Gamma, providing me with a difference in performance (the Omega/Gamma, the T2, and now the G2), as well as all four search coils (yes, the 5" DD and 11" DD as well as the round 8" and elliptical 10" concentric), has allowed me to make some definite considerations on what works best for me in the variety of sites and challenges I deal with.

If a person owns only one metal detector, and their scope of search sites and challenges from both bad ground and nasty trash are negligible, and they probably only go out detecting on a part-time basis and are satisfied with what they have, then they might have a nearly 'perfect' detector for their immediate needs. However, for those of us who are beyond the hobbyists category and are avid detectorists, I don;'t think there is a single 'perfect' detector because challenges can vary. It makes sense (and is a good excuse) to own more than one detector, and for some that number might get into the 3 or 4 or 5 different models that see ample use afield. If a detector just sits around most of the time, then it is close to useless. Detectors that are used and learned, and then used some more, are the ones we need in our detector battery.

Due to my crappy health I can't get out and put in the long day after day of nugget hunting like I used to. However, that doesn't mean I can't get out at least now and then to chase those little golden gleamers, and for that I like a good All Metal mode. Often, when I have nugget hunted in years past and had a nugget-specific unit in my hand, like the very good Tesoro Diablo
