Any word on the Omega LTD yet ?

You know it's coming but I bet you calling it a LTD will be an understatement.

It will have a pull trigger, many modes and programability and will use 2 frequencies. Dave Johnson is going to use what has worked thus far!
And a backlight of course... and weather proofing...

I haven't purchased a Deus or V3i yet cause I want to see what Fisher/Teknetics comes out with for next year.

i believe "something" is in "beta " test right now!..
we'll know in the spring!.".smart money" says not quite ready

Hi Brian

The Omega is a great machine and I kind of feel responsible for getting you back into the Omega!

I went to the old pounded park last week and hit a small spot with two buffalos and a V... and a ring. Went back Thursday with the F75LTD and found NADA.. I got tired of digging ghost signals and sitched back to the O8K and at least came away with some clad... the Omega is probably the best coin machineI have ever used, all things considered.... but, don't tell anyone OK?

most coin hunting use. In open areas and some other applications I'll grab the T2, but the bulk of my coin hunting results come by way of the Omega. The only exception is when working trashier sites. I have no problem working with the 5" DD on the Omega and proved how successful they can be as a team, but after using the new G2 with the 5" DD, in the uglier sites that I had worked previously with the Omega and then side-by-side during the G2 evaluations I did, I had to acknowledge that the 5" and G2 made a slightly better duo. Of course that also means I can leave the 10' elliptical concentric on the Omega where it seems to excel. :)

What I would really like to see is a new offering in a T2 configuration (I like the trigger toggle) with a blend of the Omega and G2 designs, and add a back-light. Audio Tone ID options of the Omega, and target ID 'zones' for coin hunting that work as well as the Omega. Then also have the G2 type Discrimination adjustment. Let it all work at 13 kHz, or honestly at the Omega's 7.8 kHz would be just as good (maybe better) for me. Share 'Greek' series and G2 coils, have the separate Volume control like the T2 has now as well as a similar Threshold-based All Metal mode.

Maybe just leave the T2 design the same for All Metal mode function, but drop the operating frequency to 7.8 kHz, change the Discrimination circuitry to be the blend of an Omega and G2, and with an added back-light I would be quite pleased.

Oh well, it's the end of a year and time when we can all reflect back on how we've done so far, what we liked, and express some of our thought in hopes that something new and exciting will come our way in the spring. :clapping: Honestly, in closing, as I think of just how well the Omega functions for most of my coin hunting and some relic hunting applications, I can imagine just such a new model as I mentioned coming out. It would be a solid addition to my arsenal as it would be the 'big daddy' of the coin and relic hunting units and I'd leave it outfitted with the 11" BiAxial DD, but I'd keep my Omega w/10" elliptical concentric as well as hang on to the G2 outfitted with the round 5" DD coil. For me, that would make an ideal 3-detector arsenal with complimentary performance, that would all share coils, and also let me get in some night hunting in the hot summers, or winter-time parking strip and other urban hunting when it gets dark early (as long as it's not freezing outside).

But until Teknetics brings out a new upper-end model to sort of copy the Omega, and other than working the G2 w/5" DD in the trashier areas, it is the Omega that gets grabbed first thanks to the results it has proven to me afield. Darn forums. :( I think it's too late to start telling people the Omega is no good and they ought to look elsewhere. The word is out!

I haven't had a lot of dirt time lately due to a new job, and I'm in the middle of packing and moving....BUT I'm missing swinging my Omega, and look forward to a better Omega....

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's best detector, the Omega LTD will be that detector. Better than it was before. Better...stronger...faster. :detecting:

Hmmm ..... :crylol: someone is showing his/her age there ! (Six Million Dollar Detector) ! ... Oh, that should be Six Million Dollar Man !!

That is, of course, unless one doesn't want to eat. The Omega really is a great coin detector. Hope you get settled and can get out swinging again. HH jim tn

How about crossing the Gold Bug and Omega 7.8 and 19.2 kHz
I can run the bug at Max sens most of the time with locking ID
That with the LTD power Look Out.:please:

Brian------I make a habit of NEVER letting work interfere with my tectin----you should do the SAME!!!!-----Oh, that's right---I'm retired ain't I -----Gimmee my Omega LTD--PRO (whatever)!! :crylol:  ----------Del

I would say the G2 is a 8000 LTD if you hunt with it it is like a boost mode how it lights targets up even on edge they hit hard.

I personally have not found the G2/ Gold Bug to be near as hot on coins, or relics for that matter, as the Omega. I must be missing something.

Too high of a frequency...keep the Omega frequency as is, it's the best coin shooter FT has right now, especially for silver coins :yo:

I agree, don't change the frequency. As is, it is a coin magnet. And as Brian states, it really does love silver. HH jim tn
