Any word on a new version of the Sovereign ?

It seems that the Sovereign Platform is overdue for a new version. Has anyone got any info on a possible new version coming out soon? What would you like to see on a new version of the Sovereign.

Thanks

Hard to improve on really.

It would be nice to see a Sovereign in an Exterra type housing. Something lighter and easier to swing, not that it's hard to swing... and you can chestmount it. It would be nice with a built in meter but with the same audio and stability and with a 11" Pro coil like they use on the E-TRAC... I think that is one thing that would actually improve the Sovereign... maybe. That is one killer coil.

You are right though, it is one of the all time best detectors, if not the absolute best.

I think it would be less popular if they made the Sov heavier, like the Explorer, just to get a builtin meter. Why not just use the Etrac????????? The beauty of the Sov is how simple it is and how easily you can customize it to suit yourself. Why would you want another one-size-fits all detector????????
I love the GT just the way it is!

He said in an Xterra type housing and with the new 11" thin lightweight coil that they introduced with the E-Trac. The Xterra weighs almost half what an Explorer weighs. I would like to see those improvements too.

I doubt that they could keep it as light as the X-terra! The Sov has 17 frequencies and I'll bet the circuit board is as small as they can get it now. Nothing wrong with wishing, I wish for gold every time out! HH!

LOL....me too :) But I think that they could make it smaller if they wanted to. The circuit board in my GT is the exact same size as the board in my XS-2 that I bought back around 1998. Electronic parts have gotten a lot smaller in the past 11 years and it should be possible to make the Sov circuit board 1/2 to 2/3's the size it is now. But there has to be some incentive for them to do that. If everyone is happy with it the way it is there is no reason for Minelab to go to the trouble of redesigning it. JMHO
