I heard that the newer CSC coils were foam filled and the older were epoxied.

I also heard that the newer have the windings set up a bit differently as well.

I would like to get the newer foam filled one, how can I tell the difference?

The newer ones are lighter. Be careful, the newer ones were recalled, I believe it was because the design/housing was weak.

That's why you should buy from a reputable Tesoro dealer. They know the difference between a recalled one and one that's been improved.

I would assume(and get in trouble) that Tesoro could give the serial number of the last epoxy filled coil..That number and lower would be the old. Then there should be a starting number for the foam filled C/ S coils....You might be able to go by weight...I think some place back I gave Gunnar of Minnesota the weight of my coil..(Old series)...The new coils should weight less.. Six sentences and five assumptions...Not bad for a slow day.................Getting ready to throw a bunch of cents back into circulation and found an Indian that had escaped identification...

73cj5,

They weight differant.............I think the issue with the first lightweight CS coils were they curled.

If you use CS coils exclusively in the water I think the old epoxy filled worked well (less boyant). But if you use them on dry land exclusivly the lighter ones were better (less fatiging for longer swing times)

Not sure they are making both models (4 pin/5 pin) at this time. A few months back they said one was not in stock & not being manifactured at this time.............AlCav from Tesoro has'nt updated the older post.(at least I hav'nt seen one)

Best way is to find out is to call Tesoro direct M-F during their work day............E-mails rarely work.

Good hunting . . . . HaRM
