Any way to accept nickles?

I have a Cibola I would like to modify so that it will accept the nickle range even when the disc. knob is turned up to pennies. Is this posible? Is there anybody out there that could do this? Thanks for any information.

Sure it can. But you will have to switch back and forth with a spdt switch and have a possibility of voiding the warranty-even though it's highly simple. First, you have to have a mini 200k pot (the disc pot on the Silver umax is 200k-could be more or less on a different model) and tack-solder the outside leads ATOP the outside leads on the pot on the Cibola. The white lead coming to the center is unsoldered and attached to the spdt switch in the center and two white leads are soldered to the outside leads-one going to the Cibola pot where you just removed it, and the other to the center lead on the 200k pot. If you know anything about electronics, no matter if the pots are piggyback, if the center lead isn't activated the pots are electronically dead. So switching back and forth will activate and deactivate the separate pots. Now all you have to do is set your Cibola on the lowest disc level you want and set the 200k pot at pennies, or tabs, etc. and when you get your first signal flip the switch to double check. This is how I do it on my Silver umax: I set the 200k pot to break up noticeably on most tabs. Then, as I'm hunting in the regular mode and hit a signal, I flip the switch and:
1. If the signal goes blank, it's in the nickel range.
2. If it breaks up, it's in the tab range.
3. If signal is still strong, it's in the coin range.

Can you take pics or draw up a schematic for this. I would love to do this on my vaquero. And maybe a pic of how it looks on your detector.

I just got done with my vaquero dual disc mod. Check it out.
