Any updates or reviews on Prizm 6T thanks

So the reviews aren't there.
Plus the Prizm aren't noted for there selection of coils.
And the one I did see was forsale.
Time will tell ?????

go to the whites metal detecting forum. it appeaes to be a very nice machine, and does alot of things.

But lots of the users may not even know about the forums? Some like myself are waiting for a small coil before we buy. Some may have to sell a detector or two to be able to justify the 6T - myself included. Plus it's getting cold outside. I'm also waiting on Monte V. to post a field test! But he may not buy one until the small coil is available too?

I think Whites going to the Plastic did somtin??? Thear Traditionsl Metal Units got us spoiled,
I never used a Prizem??? Iv ben with Whites for 25 years Eagles Blue N Black Units / XLT / MXT / M-6 / Surfmaster II VLF / Surfmaster PI / Quantum / Silver Eagle, Just my 2 Cents, Mic

That's true about the battery box. The displays have always been plastic. I kind of wished they made the Prizm 6T run on 4 AA cells with a small metal battery box. It would have been nice to see a small 8 cell metal battery box. But I'm sure to keep the price down and compete with the Fishers they had to use plastic. I'm sure it's tough as nails though..

And the good thing is its Lighter thean Meatl to??? Ya N cost is down to make???? Mic

Metal is spelled Metal I new that???? MickFin

I think it's all about powerful LIGHT WEIGHT detectors. We should devise a formula that would divide the weight of the machine divided by the user options! This would give us the best power to weight ratio. Thus possibly the best detector?

HI ALL, I USED THE T6 FOR 5 DAYS AND THIS IS WHAT I THINK, YOU ALL ARE TALKING ABOUT THE BATTERY BOX I THINK ITS OK ( AT LEAST THEY ARE TIGHT,NOT LIKE THE FISHERS WHO'S ARE LOOSE ) OK HERE WE GO, FIRST THING THE NEW 9" SPIDER COIL IS A SUPPER IMPROVMRNT IN THIS DETECTOR,WORKS GREAT ON COINS MUTCH BETTER THAN THE V 950 COIL, I FOUND THE BEST WAY TO GET USE TO THIS DETECTOR WAS TO HUNT IN 1 TONE AND THEN WHEN YOU GET A HIT PUSH ON THE TONE ID AND USE THAT AND THE ID NUMBERS TO ID THE COIN , EVERY TIME I DID THAT AND IT HIT IT WAS RIGHT ON THE MONEY. THE DEPEST I DUG WAS 10" WITH IT,NOT BAD, I DID LIKE THE WAY IT WAS SET UP FOR DEPTH,AS YOU ARE RUNNING IT HAS A DEPTH BAR ON LEFT SIDE SHOWS DEPTH, WHEN YOU PINPOINT IT USE ES THE ID NUMBERS AND SHOWS DEPTH IN BIG NUMBERS LIKE 20 MEANS 2 " 3.5 MEANS 3 AND A HALF INCHES SUPPER , I DUG A LOT LESS TRASH WITH THIS DETECTOR THAN MOST OF THE FISHERS AND TESORO'S I HAVE USED THE ONE BAD THING I FOUND IS IT WILL NOT RUN ON RECHARGEALES BATTERIES, I HAD TO USE ALKALINES IN IT , FOUND THE ID TO BE ON THE MONEY 99 % OF THE TIME AND THE DEPTH TO BE THERE MOST OF THE TIME OFF ONCE AND A WHILE JUST LIKE MOST OTHER DETECTORS ALSO., IN 39 YRS I HAVE USED MOST FISHERS AND TESOROS AND SOME GARRETTS AND A FEW WHITES AS I WAS NOT A BIG WHITES FAN, THIS SOULD HELP THE PRIZN SELL MUTCH BETTER, WHITES WOULD DO MUTCH BETTER ON THE V IF THEY PUT THIS 9" COIL ON IT THIS COIL HANDLES THE TRASH MUTCH BETTER . [size=large]Dennis, first, if you don't mind, please don't use all capital letters when posting.

Now, are you sure your Prizm 6T is giving you the 2-digit depth readings? Mine doesn't, and after I contacted the factory about this and they checked their demo-room unit and looked into it, I was told they will be amending the Owner's Manual as the Prizm 6T only gives a depth measurement by Inch and there are no half-inch read-outs.

It's possible that if your unit does it was a very early production unit.

personally, I was pleased to find that they were not trying to make it such a precise reading. It's bad enough to have a detector be off an inch on some targets, such as a difference between 50

There's an implied decimal point in between the two digits for depth.
A reading of 20 means 2.0 inch, 25 means 2.5 inch.
depth is PP mode only and second digit will be 0 or 5 (1/2 inch = 05).

[size=large]As it is anyone can see there is easily a half-inch to inch difference with make makes & models depending upon the coil used, the target sampled, etc., etc.

it would be a terrible thing to try and suggest a detector was so efficient as to break the Coin Depth estimates down into .5 increments.

Now, there was a time, some 25 years ago, for example, that a detector would have a metered coin depth reading that was reasonably believed, such as Tesoro's Inca. However, the Inca only gave a depth reading to 6", and the analog display had segments numbers from 1-to-6 and not a specific line. Thus, the operator could 'best guess' the depth somewhere in the

First off, to Whites I was your first customer to purchase a 6T from the northwest distributor I will be there this weekend and ask you
a couple of questions about any changes made to the 6T and intend to post the results here. Incorrect information is being posted about the 6T and I intend to clear it up. I'm also using a photo of page 15 from the manual for clarification on this post. I will see you soon.

Second read page 15 it clearly states that an implied decimal is in between the two digits. This is in fact the way it works 1/2 inch increments. the rest of the Photos show various depths of the coin, in this case a copper penny. Only zero and five show as the second digit.

Third what the manual doesn't say. The page from the manual is not entirely correct. During pinpointing the depth bar graph and the
plus sign do not display ,why would they need to? You don't need the bar graph with a one and a half digit display, and you can't have a negative distance from the coil.

The sens bar graph does display during pin pointing.

Look at page 15 again the three lower notches are locked out. During pin pointing the lockout are displayed but are over ridden.
If a target has been misidentified it will still give a tone, the pointer still moves to the correct notch and can be pin pointed lock out or not.

Releasing the pin point button returns it disc mode with your chosen notches locked out.

In a later post I will cover how to put that half inch to good use in pin pointing it's easy and effective. Then I will cover the 45 degree coin for let just say it's not a problem.

Lastly I will not let my part of these posts turn into a horse and pony show, If you have serious questions about the 6T I will try to answer them and if I can't give you good information, and if can't give you honest straight answers I will tell you so.

Happy hunting folks.....Longwalker
