Any tips on swinging wheat stubble ?

Other than getting a smaller coil, do you have tips for working the stubble ? This is the worst that i've had to deal with yet.

Sniper coil, or....walk backwards and detect the flattened stubble or lay a 4 x 8 sheet of thin plywood down, walk and detect on it.

or, wait until the field gets ploughed.

Good luck!

great post!

Thanks guys. I used the plywood sheet about three years ago on a fur trade site with thigh high grass. It worked well enough to recover many rings and larger relics.

I am unsure if I want to go this route on buddies field though, as the point of the stubble is to catch snow for spring moisture. He may get angry if I flatten it down. The last two years and this spring I got some nice coins out of there, but the field was as smooth as a babies bum from a Lentil crop. It still took a lot of interesting and pleasurable work for them. I will have to think on this one. Not much real time for a small coil to get here and I don't want to anger the land owner. Might have to bite the bullet.
