Any tips how to open Eagle Spectrum meter housing?

Picked up this unit and back light is out. Common problem after time I guess.
Machine works !00% except back light. Would like to inspect meter housing
but just don't want to crack anything in the process. Is this a snap fitting or
are they sealed some how? I.d bet the electro- strip is burnt but possibly was
disabled or maybe dirty contacts.Opened control box and looks like it was made
yesterday When adjusting back light setting all works from dim to brighter number
wise but no light. Guess I really don't need it but would be great if it could be made
to work again. Any help or input is greatly appreciated Thanks for looking...

It's a snap type, from the front bottom gently lift upward, sort of henges up connected on top then separates.

Let us know if it works, should be easy don't worry nothing will break.

Thanks buddy and Hope 2016 is a BANNER year for you.Happy New Year.
Will post the out come of my efforts. This is very helpful information as I just
don't want to do any damage to the meter housing and wasn't sure on how
to separate the housing without possibly cracking the plastic. Hopefully
I can get that back light working again. Your input is deeply appreciated.
Just wish I was Tech gifted . Take care....

Well I got her opened up and meter case looks brand new inside. Nothing disconnected and
could not see any bad spots on pc boards.Called Whites after I got her opened up and tried
to order new electro strip but Whites no longer remedies the back light. Are you kidding me?
With all the technology out there today they can't find a replacement electro strip that would
solve this problem. The screen was a hair fuzzy before I started but readable. So Whites told
me if it was sent in they could repair the machine but not the back light. So I might as well
consider it junk because I can't see putting about $150.00 into this unit when this is a common
problem. After putting her all back together screen is fuzzier now but still operates and ID's
correctly but when going into options modes screen is hardly readable. Oh well for the money
I guess it was worth a shot in the dark... Thanks for the help Old California as your help was
spot on and it was no big deal to disassemble and check things out inside. much easier than I
thought it would be. This was a good lesson for me in the world of detector repairs. Just wish
Whites would have resolved this screen problem back when. Again, Thanks Old Cal.

That's a bummer Whites doesn't have parts to repair the light, I may have a set of parts for the light repair. Let me dig through some boxes, if I find them will send these to you. Have complete screens too, let me gather them up.

I'll get back with you, hopefully have what you need with light and screen issues.

All the best,
Paul

Any more suggestions (parts for sale), I have an Eagle Spectrum Special Edition (hip mount) with the same back light problem. I had just sold the SL variety of an Eagle Spectrum days earlier before getting the hip mounted Eagle on Ebay. I had opened both meters to make sure the light wasn't modified not to light like I had read some uses did because the back light is powered all the time. The hip mount variety I received also had lines on the display so I cleaned the posts that the ribbon wire attached to for a quick FIX.
