Hello every one.
Having hard time with nickels.
I use the 10.5 dd soil is 10- 20 gb.
Any tips for deeper nickels are well appreciated.

this week I found 2 v-nickels and 2 buffalo's, and I tell you what I am a dig it all type hunter, what I do is hunt in all metal and dig everything above iron. 3 of the 4 nickels I found this week came in as #8 on my x-70, and one was a #10
modern nickels are almost always a solid #12
so my advice is that if you want nickels you absolutely HAVE to dig those targets that register #8 and #10

goes4ever is right... Dig it all... (aboveiron)... how long does it take... ?? I'd trade 2-3 minutes for a goot target and/or a keeper anyday!

What does Randy say..... "You never know unless you dig it!"

Being a 70's guy... "I can dig it!"

Paul

Haven't found any old nickels yet but, all my modern nickel finds have also been a solid 12.

I have been digging more iffy signals this year. i also have more nickles to show for it. A few of those at 10. I guess I will have to start digging the 8's, Beale.

This is what a 6 looks like.

If you are setting at 10 - 20 on GB, with the DD coil, you must have some heavily mineralized soil. As to TID numbers, the chart I first posted (has that been 3 years ago ) was based on airtests, using the 9-inch concentric at 7.5 kHz. Ground conditions, coil choice, depth, angle of target, adjacent targets etc, etc, etc can influence those TID numbers. Use them only as a guide and build yourself a test garden to refine them for your circumstances. HH Randy

Ok BB that is one great ring but the minute I looked at it my thought was "Oh that's not fair" I sure would like to pull one of those up. I have a funny feeling that you have quite a collection.
