Any thoughts on using the 18" Excelerator coil at the beach?

I just got an 18" Excelerator coil for my MXT. My intention is to hunt the expansive dry sand areas of some of my local beachs here in southern Calif. Do any of you have some experience with this coil? What modes does it like and how is it on rings? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. HH'n Mike

Mike I too live here in southern ca. I dont have the 18" excelerator but just got the 12.5. Used it on the beach a couple of days ago. Worked fine in both the wet sand and dry sand. I ground balanced mine in the salt mode in the wet sand then locked the ground balance and used it both in the wet sand and dry sand after this with no problems. Found lots of modern coins but was not fortunate to walk over any jewlery but only had a short while to hunt. Good Luck.
