Any thoughts on the Cortes?

I hardly ever hear anything about the Cortes. Does anyone use one? Tell me about it.

Thanks,

J

Check the older messages, lots of info and opinions about it.

I'm finding out that it is a very effective discriminator in high trash when searching for gold jewelry. Iron readings are digitized at "0" and all coins are at "95" by doing this, they create a much wider range for the low conductive gold targets. This is the only detector on the market that has done this.( Without the endless scrolling that you have to do on most computerized models) Since getting mine ........( I specialize in getting gold out of picnic areas" I can better identify the pulltabs so that readings that are different;jump-out at me!!! These are the ones to dig.....it's been a long time since I've found 3 gold rings in one day,( in parks not the beach} but I did it recently.........I love this detector!!!I'm convinced that because silver hits more cleanly most of it has been recovered. The next true frontier is in park gold. Learn the pulltabs readings and dig those that are " unlike" pulltabs and increase your gold finds. Remember in most trashy park areas, better discrimination trumps depth every time!!

Well said Ivan . Gold truly is the next frontier .The Cortes is a great all around machine and one you can swing all day ( night time too with the back light ) .

I am seriously considering bying one. Gold is good!

All coins read 95? Even zinc pennies, IHs, and nickles? Is there no way to tell the difference between a zinc and a better coin?

Thanks,

J

If the display/labels were a bit easier (bigger) for the eyeballs, I would probably have one to go along with my Tejon & Cibola. The range for low conductive targets that Ivan mentioned interest me.

...........just go to a drugstore and find one of those plastic "credit card" magnifiers and mount it in front of the screen!!!
