Any Tejon information??

Woodstock

New member
Hi everyone, I getting a nice Tejon next week and I'm moving back to Tesoro country. I've had tons of different machines from all the big brands and somehow I always return. I was hoping to get some good feedback about Tejons and any and all the information about the best coil choices for coin shooting and general detecting. Any tips or tricks and any other information you can give me is more than welcome. So come on guys and gals fire away! Oh and by the way, it's good to be back here in Tesoro country cause I've been gone way to long. Best Regards to All ~ Happy Hunting and Trails too, Woodstock ~aka~ Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I set the Tejon to reject nails and use the 2nd disc above pulltab to give me an idea if it's a coin. I back the sensitivity down till it doesn't chatter. Ussually at 8. I gournd balance using the pinpoint (trigger pulled). I have gotten very well at IDing targets before I dig. The stock 9x8 coil works very well and in iron too. Most recommend getting the 5.75" coil concentric or wide scan especially for trashy areas. I think I would like the wide scan best. The wide scan is also better for bad soil. I think you will be seeing some reports on the 10x12 SEF soon.

Hope you enjoy your Tejon.

Good Luck,
Rick

Thanks for the info Rick. I just can wait to check one out. I've never really relyed on the displays so I'm going back home to the old school. Besides it's more fun not knowing until you see it. Those ID's aren't really dependable anyways. Some have told me the 5.75 wide scan is just about as deep as the 9x8, it that true? HH, Woodstock

I have heard the 5.75" wide scan is about the same depth as 9x8. Go post on the Treasure Depot Tesoro forum too. Scully prefers the 5.75 wide scan. I have also heard you won't see much difference between the 2 5.75 coils. I would watch for reports of the 10x12 SEF compared to Tesoro 10x12 wide scan. I hear the Tesoro 10x12 wide scan isn't much deeper than the 9x8 but you do get extra coverage in open areas. The SEF coil might have 2 or 3" more depth but don't know yet.

Hey Jeff, I already mentioned the 5X10 Elliptical, so I need to mention the 5.75 Concentric. You won't miss much , if anything with the 9X8 cause it is a real hog, but there is always that urge you get in those extra iron trashy dirts that you may could do better with that smaller coil. Usually you can so I would also suggest when you can, go for the 5.75 Con. Providing your ground is not really disagreable.I know in my mild dirt the 5.75 comes within a hair of matching depth of the 9x8, if not actually doing so. I got the 5X10 Elliptical in hopes that it would help me coax another goodie or 2 from an extremely bad piece of iron infested 1800's homesite. It did and I was well pleased with it. Only problem I have now is deciding which coil to use on the site, I usually use the 5.75 and the 5X10 for the homesite and the 9X8 for walking the fields, hunting more hot spots. One good thing always just naturally leads to another, so when you can , get them all, and have a ball. Lol,You will also need more blade on your shovel when using any of those coils on the Tejon. HH, Charlie

Charlie, I plan on adding the 5 X 10 someday to the arsenal. I've had a ton of different machines and found I really never pay attention to the displays, just the sound of positive targets. I'm just to old school I guess to change. I also can't see the displays very good anymore so I'd rather come back to the old school and avoid new glasses. In the past Tesoros have been the best most sensitive machine I've owned so far so I know I'll be hitting and digging deep targets
and those coin on edge with the Tejon. Tesoro's are nice machines and I like the weight of them. HH, Woodstock
