Had aBounty hunter for my beginer metal detector last year.

Ive used my F 70 about 20 hrs so far.

Found some wheaties. bunch of clad.

Hunted at least 10 dif locations.

Would make my day to find a merc. havent found any silver at all with either detector.

Could use some help.

I live by Detroit Michigan

Thanks.

Well, lets see. over by Detroit? Work some of those older parks west of town like Kensington, Walled Lake, or go east into Grosse Pt, or slam the swimming beaches hard fast and often for fresh drops. I wiped up a stinky pile of clad one day at a school north of the Novi exit on 96 just passing through..I guess I would say run on factory settings for a while, and try different tones to see which one fits you the best. Your silver coins will show up in the old dirt, but theres nothing wrong with cladstabbin or freshdroppin the totlots and after art fairs or gatherings in the parks, you can crawl through some of the old posts on here, theres several of us that swing the F70, and we all like different settings and different styles of hunting, so you really got a machine there that is good at a lot of things depending on the situation and circumstances. As a matter of fact, one old guy who posts here got over 7000 coins last year with his F70...and this guy is really old, like 117 or something..he's an inspiration to us all, and a testamony to the F70! Good Luck, and welcome to the Forum!

Rob don't pay any attention to Mud he is just a jealous wanabe oldster. Most people tell me I don't look a day over 96. And they tell me that I have that cool zombie look.
Rob just go out there and have fun. If you are going out there looking for silver/jewelry it can be kind of frustrating. Your in a good city for some old coins/jewelry. Get your self a county park map. Start hitting those parks/schools that are in your area and expand out from there. When you are out there and some old person wants to talk stop and talk they may have some good information on older sites. Parks that were and aren't anymore. I just go out looking for coins. If jewelry/silver shows up it is all the better. But be warned silver/jewelry doesn't show up daily. Sometimes it is a long wait for something to show up.
The F70 is a very good coin machine. It is fast, light, tough and easy to use. The more you get to know it the more coins will show up. Mud already has something like 5,000 coins this summer. So watch his posts because he has some good ideas. He is always trying to push the F70 a little harder. Just go out and have fun... Welcome to the forum. HH and Happy Trails....Z

Hey Rob, I take my '70 with me when I travel, and get to use it in different soils, I dont get over your way too often, up to Midland soon, and man, theres some sweepers there that keep that place pretty well cleaned up. Theres some youtube videos from a guy named Crunch that hunts old silver just west of Detroit. I grew up on the east side in the 60's, south of Grosse Pt. I have google earthed my old stomping grounds for a potential sortie someday..I am trying to see if I can get as many coins as Zeek did last year, I am hunting twice as often as he did, and I'm 20 years younger, and I dont know yet if I can pull it off.!..Good luck!

Thank you for your post.
Ive been doing some resurch on one of the counties in central lower michigan. Havent hunted ther yet. ive done some google satelite and historical resurch if you want to get together and hit it. I found where there was a old high school that was tore down and now is a farmer feild. and where there were homes that were tore down and now they are part of a state park. let me know.

thanks again!

Go to an older part of the city and hunt the tree lawn area (the grassy area between old sidewalks and the street curb).

I have had lots of luck hunting in those areas and you will find all kinds of things. Old silver coins, rings, you name it.

I have lots of luck around bus stops and where old phone booths used to be. Baseball fields, old school yards. Parks. Anywhere that people would gather in earlier times is a good place to hunt.

I've owned an F-70 and it is a great machine. You will do well with it.
