NOW THEY ARE JUST WORKING TO GET PRODUCTION GOING!! MAYBE SPRING 07??? I GOT THIS FROM ONE OF THERE SERVICE CENTER GUYS WHO WAS AT THE TESTING!! MINELAB BEACH HUNTERS BEWARE!! ALTHOUGH I THINK WHITES CURRENT LINE UP OF DETECTORS ALLREADY HAS THEM BEAT VALUE/PERFORMENCE!!

I'm surprised to hear a worker of Whites or any detector company for that matter leak out that kind of information, An employee like that is not loyal and should not be employed there.

tough one for anyone to come up with. I wouldn't hold my breath, there have been others to try. Hope it's true but have serious doubts. Even if it is accomplished, the price might be high.

From the late 1990's we have had PI unit that would target ID with audio between ferrous, and non-ferrous targets. These are units from Eric Foster the inventor of the PI detector.

Garrett makes a ID'ing PI unit that works well also. So don't try and hold your breath. :surprised:

These units do not discriminate in the same as a VLF detector, but nerveless they do ID.

You can check out the latest Id'ing PI from Eric Foster by clicking here http://www.surfscanner.com/Surfscan3/Goldscan1.html

Mr. Bill

PS: Whites is certainly aware this unit exists.

I was thinking more in terms of ID and Disc. similar to VLF's. I haven't heard of many who use Eric's or the Infinium for general land hunting, I am sure they are great units especially for the beach and prospecting but the PI that will contend with VLf's on inland is something we all would like to see. Maybe a non water-proof model of those mentioned would be a good idea, seems the waterproofing adds to the price ,they would have to be able to differentiate between iron and high conductors such as silver/copper. Using the Garrett on land and having to turn the knob full clockwise on every iron target to ID it would get tiresome.

Hi Steve

You are correct on the VLF type of discrimination to a PI unit. No such item exist yet.

On the prospecting thing, I think you would be real surprised on just how much iron & junk there is to contend with there, a lot of it. Just about as much as I encountered on a playground.

A few of the ID
