Any rumblings out of Texas?

So is this the year that the GTI 2500 will be laid to rest? I want Garrett to offer a new flagship machine.

No clue. I find it odd the 1500 has been retired. I wouldn't get rid of the 2500. It has a huge following. If it were me, I would come out with a new version or a GTI 3000 with at AT Imaging to fill the slot for the 1500.

I have no clue.. But... I see a trend towards the lighter AT pro type machines myself..
I'm not sure if they will ever replace the 2500 with a heavy machine of it's type..
I wouldn't be surprised if the next "top of the line" unit was something like a super deluxe
AT Pro on about three doses of steroids.. I kinda of doubt you will ever see the type of
heavy unit like the 2500 again. With the newer technology, seems to me they can get
equal or better performance from the lighter machines.
I didn't even know the 1500 was history.. But again, with the newer AT pro machines,
there may have not been much point in keeping the old models going. I bet they weren't
selling too many after the AT's came out.

I'll be hanging onto my 1500 for quite some time to come, but you are right. It would be good to see a shift towards lighter detectors. I got to handle an XP Dues 6 months ago. The designer really had his head screwed on right when he made it! It weighs less than a kilogram, wireless connection to the coil, great control box set up, brilliant shaft and handle connection (the best ergonomics I've ever come across) and if you want, you can remove the control box and just use the headphones as your control box and no cords anywhere. it also uses lopo batteries. It's about time they made it into detectors.
hopefully Garrett will head down that path soon.
Mick Evans.

The new trend for super detectors are, wireless headphones, color screens, USB connections, menu systems that take 2 years to navigate, price tags that make grown men cry.

Yeah no kidding. The have increased the complexity jacked up the price to the moon....and the depth has decreased.

I watched two buddies have a shoot out between a Tesoro Tejon 550 buck and a Minelab ctx 3030 over 2000 bucks.
The simple Tejon was consistantly 3 to 4 inches deeper and better in hot soil. The ctx 3030 went over good targets
and didn't peep. This wasn't an apple to oranges comparison (sleezy sales talk)...both machines had similar sized coils
and were tuned. Yeah the 3030 had a gps to lead you back to target finds, but what if it doesn't see them.

Seems the users are being left out of the equation.

Hopefully they will continue on with an upgraded version of the AT Pro & AT Gold. Merge the two together - bring out an AT Gold Deluxe. One that has a back-light, means of discriminating out the stuff you don't want (like you can on the AT Pro) waterproof to 33ft (2ATMs) & a "user selectable tone" for the targets you want to find. EG: I like to hunt $1 & $2 coins here in Australia. It would be great if I could choose the tune/tone for just this target.(& other items that come up with the same target ID code)
In summary: A BACK-LIGHT, USER SELECTABLE TARGET TONE, MORE WATERPROOF DEPTH & MORE HORSEPOWER>
What are your thoughts.
Gary.

Start following other brands with all the whistles and bells will only push prices higher and takes away what Garrett is all about, very effective low cost machines built to deliver! Nah Garrett needs to stay on track and keep doing its own thing. As we are all aware technology is always moving at a rapid pace and with that comes a price not everyone can afford. For a VLF machine I think the ATP is close to being the best bang for buck! Sure it can be tweaked here and there but at what expense to us the users? Obviously progress needs to be made to be competitive but it also has to be done in such a way that certain aspects are not overlooked or missed. There is still no machine out there to this day that does absolutely everything and if there were such a machine how much would it COST! Just my two bobs worth.( I thought the X-Terra 70 was brilliant when it first come out but for twice the price as an ATP I beg to differ.)
Cheers!

Now the 2500 is back ordered (out of stock) at most dealers ??? whats up with that

Garrett needs a multiple freq. detector like the Minelab Explorer se pro ... Minelab has just discontinued the Explorer Se Pro dont know why it is a fantastic machine.. handles the wet salt sand real good

If i was a company coming out with something new it would be now. INCOME TAX time. Never really understood this, like were i live the county fair starts the Last weak of the month. Start it the first week Social Security checks come out. Most people work jobs that pay bonus get it the first of each month same with workers that get payed every 2 weeks. I never understood this. They cant figure out why attends is down or stays the same. I know most bills are due the 1st of the month but last week of the month I'm broke.
